now the weathers turned and its wet job up at cemetery is to go and fill in sunken graves. first time i went up with mower going along minding my own when mower stopped back wheel sunk down into grave had to pull it out. soon found out and stayed clear hence back filling. thats going to be a shovel and barrow job

sadly F1 has lost its sparkle not a lot of close racing as such and the tracks they are on are nearly the same. i wonder how vettle would have got on if he was about when hunt and lauda where racing or senna,mansall the pits side is just changing tyres not fuel everything is so electronic controlled yes got to be good to race one but rather see TT or superbikes or saloon cars much more fun

well been out to pick daughter up as a home carer for elderly roads around these parts badly flooded in places so her little car was struggling in rain and wind. plus member of 4x4 response group. coming back chap had hit flood water and lost control police on scene but looking after driver so sat in flood with beacons on to stop anyone else hitting it. first time i used my strimmer in dark to cut back vegetation in ditch to let water run off road. see if council will pay me for my time.

a lot of trees that came down in 87 should have if managed been taken down more so beech all we cut up had the black spot in middle of tree and where over 150 years plus so should have been felled as was intended when planted. 25 years on a lot of where trees came down others have taken there place but still on a small scale but still a number which are now 25years older and in non managed areas so these could be the ones to come down. but in other posts i do not think on the scale of 87 can only wait and see as for weekend warriers times have changed and can not see any council no matter how bad taking anyone on without all the relevant paperwork and insurance, can not say for the private customer. but i think the insurance company will want a quote for any work done under insurance so the cowboys will not see much from it

i think back at all the stuff we cut up and threw in hedge as did not have the transport to move it. and that just rotted away. so a lot of timber just went to waste. now with the gear a lot will be taken and processed so could be a glut of firewood not so much working timber. as in 87 lot of the timber was unable to be milled as had the shakes.

agree 100% is worth risking life and limb to make a tree safe. i was out in 87 during the storm clearing large beech trees on three maids hill for locals. we had about 10 of us and a jcb trying to clear road as we cleared so more came down watching 80ft beech falling dwn beside you makes you think sod this my lifes worth more than doing this. in the end we al went home to wait for wind to drop. worked for council for 3 weeks after clearing roads. nice little earner. so if you have to stay safe and do not take risks. if you are not happy say sod it and leave it. better to be alive than rich and dead

the binders may be nicer but a good whisker south of england looks the business. can not understand with midland why it has to have a short back and sides one side. still a good style but the rolls of styles is south.

now i have seen the weather the hedge i am doing is going to need to be finished by sunday pm latest or can see no hedge left. all hands to the pumps to get it done. and sharpen chainsaw and get my 4x4 rescue gear out in case get a shout from 4x4 rescue responce its going to hit the south up as far oxford and further up is strong winds. its tracking up the channel hence south is getting full force. but like all hurricanes may change its mind and slip south which means north will get the force. or may only get it windy and thats it.

wife read your other post re on call in case. she asked me to send all her love and best wishes and asks that all you lifeboat crew stay safe with this bad weather coming and trust you do not get a shout.

been going around re hurricane coming sundaY NIGHT Monday i pasted this from weather school. bit less than a hurricane but strongThe latest model guidance for Monday suggests that a vigorous area of low pressure is going to be bringing a region of severe gales to the southern parts of the UK. Now, things are certainly not set in stone, and they are likely to change, but with agreement from the Canadian GEM (below), US GFS and the ECMWF that some sort of small scale, vigorous depression will be located somewhere between Brest and Manchester confidence at this stage is reasonable. So what would this mean? Well, a spell of heavy rain (15 to 20mm generally) but most notably strong winds. If the systems is in the northern part of the area above then southern England, southern Wales and the Midlands would see gusts of over 70mph, and possibly 80mph on coasts. This would be strong enough to damage loose roof tiles, fencing and the bring some weakened branches off trees. It may well be strong enough to fell some trees too, especially given how wet the ground is at present. If the low is further south then the strongest of the winds would be across northern France, with severe gales gusting over 60mph across Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland. It is worth bearing in mind that the midday runs of the models on Tuesday were not in favour of this storm system, but it has re-emerged this morning. So still some uncertainty. been looking through catalogues and came across a YOKI which is like a bill hook and a UNO which is a axe. does anyone know if anyone stocks them in the uk found them in the states. look like they may be ideal for hedgelaying

have to disagree in some respects the toro i got was second hand and was in very good condition i have done a season cutting grass comercial with it and it has not missed a beat very good cutting deck and it cost me £1k plus £400 for a collector yet to use as do not need it as cuts so well

out of interest with those that came down in the 87 storm did they have the shakes when milling them heard reports that they were splitting when milling and snapping blades. and a lot of timber went to waste due to timber yards not wanting timber

if you can find one a toro zero turn 425 will do what you want to do. very good mulching mower not had to use the collector for it and very fast cut petrol i can cut a acre of ground with £5 worth of fuel so economical to use. try DJ Scott warnford has second hand ones in got mine for under a k

do use chainsaw so have to be chainsaw boots but a pair i tried like having diving boots on dreadfull things. so what is a good chain saw boot. plus dropped axe other day good job i had my good ones on it made a line in boots and felt it but that was it recon if i had my other boots on with toe tectors it would have cut throught.
