You need to buy that 6800 on eBay (then repaint it Orange ?). It's collection only and it's about 5-6hr from me... £46 currently is ridiculous!!

I've got a few pictures of her in bits and definitely put some up of her rebuilt. Might even try and figure out how to get a video of her running ? The more I look at those 2 on eBay the more tempted I get!!

? Yeah I'm watching it too ? Did you see the DCS6000 which has gone unsold, twice! Asking a £250 start on it... it looked just as tidy as that 6800. It's funny they've both came up at same time. But I have great news about my own 6800. As I said in PM i had found some old new stock parts - I have now sourced all the parts ? Brand new piston, pot and rings. New bearings, seals and gaskets. Full carb strip and rebuild. Hoping to get at her this coming weekend and start a clean and rebuild (if I can remember how it all goes together after laying in bits for 3 years!!). I'm getting excited!!
  4. What's your warranty like @shavey
  5. My avatar... That's my 6401 on a 28" bar, runs it no bother ? 7900 will take much bigger ?
  6. Hmmm had heard about this recall, but didn't really look into it too much... but having read through this thread I don't think I'll bother sending my 6401 back
  7. Brilliant saws! Dolmar are, in my opinion, the dogs danglies of chainsaws so I'm very happy running my Makitas. I like them so much I have 4!! I have the baby brother to the 7900 (the old 6401) and it is a lovely, gutsy, saw. Depending on how much heavy use you do with it.. I can't see you needing many parts so I wouldn't worry too much. And it can almost all be gotten online anyway. Never used a ms251 - but I have a ms210, too... thats 1 hell of a step up!?
  8. Very good find ? I couldn't see anything below £630
  9. Ofcourse, if you were to buy this 7900 you've got yourself an absolute bargain https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232929269200 That is not my saw.
  10. The 79cc is the one Jonathan . Same weight more punch. Like a 440 vs 460 The 7300/7301 is more of a like-for-like rival for the 462 though. The 7901/7900 is a great saw and is, or at least was, best in its class for power-weight. But it doesn't fall into the £500-£600 price range, being roughly £100 dearer than the 73cc version.
  11. Did you check/take down the right hand rakers as well as sharpening? Teeth might be OK now, but rakers stopping it cutting evenly
  12. Makita/Dolmar 7301 fits that. Similar power and can be had in that price range, new.
  13. @shavey there's a dolly for you!!
  14. You have a message on eBay about a listing ?
  15. Keep away from Hermes!! Bloody useless! Parcels 'delivered' which never appear, or 'delivery attempted at X time on Y day but nobody home' despite we work at home so there's always someone about!! Shower of C*NTS.
  16. Do you have anything for Dolmar 116/120si or Dolmar/Makita 6000i/6800i?
  17. You say the saw you've got...and you want something bigger. What do you cut? What do you want/need from the saw? Need an idea of what would suit (But +1 to anything Makita/Dolmar - Shavey on here will see you right)
  18. You bought it as a non runner? Where from (friend or eBay) and have you ever managed to get it running at any point? Itl never start if it's flooding... or not getting any fuel. Check all pipes/lines and look at the carb.
  19. Tooooooo many people have played around with these saws and completely killed them. Replacement cylinders do not exist so when it goes pop, you lose it forever. Dolmar got the 115 spot on 30 years ago and it is now a legend - don't f**k about with it.
  20. how much for the dolly 116?
  21. If only it was a 120!! Great saw though. Keep a hold of it.
  22. +1 52mm is the 79cc. Not sure the smaller cylinder dimensions. 54mm is the big bore, 85cc.
  23. Nooooooo!!!! Still on the lookout for a donor saw to get her going again. It just means I'm in no urgency to resurrect the best... when I do get her going, it's be for pleasure rather as work
  24. My small bar is 18"... balance isn't that bad - but it would be perfect on a 24". Not sure if it's still true, but the 7900/7901 had the best power:weight ratio of all saws in the size band when it came out - with the 6400/6401 having the worst power:weight ratio. After using the 6800i, the 6401 is a featherweight... And £55 makes it a 7901
  25. The 6401 is great! Iv left it as stock, and it handles my 28" bar no problems. But the price the bigger saws are/were listed at I'd have went bigger no questions.
