  1. Theres a few on ebay too.... i just searched "Makita 7901 piston and cylinder for sale UK". I might get one seeing they are easy gotten... then store it for the future just in case. The 6401 is brilliant thanks dont quite have enough work for it to justify buying new (knew that before i got it though) but i HAD to have it still sorry i couldnt do you a sale on a Dolly but i knew it was unfair to get you to compete on that price mate. No farther on with the old 6800i... been pretty busy and its got pushed well down the 'to do' list. I will get there, eventually.
  2. :thumbup1: Had a 115... and various blue 520/5200's and they are all just lovely. The current 520 is my 'go to' saw. Gets all the use and abuse, and never gives up! Even when it does have a problem its easy fixed. The king is dead, Long live the King. All hail Dolmar
  3. Doesnt actually say what cc this is - just the bore (52mm - i THINK thats the 7901??) £58.99: chainsaw parts chainsaw cylinder kit makita dcs 6401dcs 7301 dcs 7901
  4. If they had been selling that saw, at that price back in June - id have snapped it up, instead of my buying my 6401.... for £10 less
  5. 38inch easily... probably bigger. Shavey will sort you a bar.
  6. Would you rather a threat: Which of Santas deer is the biggest prick?... or to keep it Arb related - which deer would you kill with a chainsaw first... because its the biggest prick
  7. Get the Dolmar! Big lump of old-skool saw, youl love it!! Itl not notice a 24 or 28inch bar (im running 28inch on my Makita 6401 happily, and my old 6800i was very comfortable on 28inch too!).
  8. Pahaha guess when i struggle some more i will just make my 64 a 7901 Did i use the word judge? Did i suggest any of us were? I simply made the point after several asked what he wanted a saw of this size for - whos business is it of any of ours? He asked a question between two saws... not what CC saw should he buy... my point was - unless he is a novice/newbie he will have an idea what size he needs (or just plain wants). But you right i wouldnt use a 14lb hammer to drive home a thumb tack... id use the 14lb hammer and several 6inch nails
  9. In all fairness he is looking at 2 big saws so it should be assumed he has some large stuff to do... or a love for bigger saws! Im just a 'homeowner' user doing my own firewood too... doesnt mean i cant justify the 6401 iv just bought, with a 28inch bar (90% what i do is with a Mak 520 and 16 or 18inch bars, granted). Who are we to question his choice? Remember Turtlewood youve just bought that large Stihl.... and were toying with a Dolly 9010 As for the question posed - 6100 all the way!!! No questions, no doubts
  10. I voted other... Used to use the Stihl stuff when it was thick and very sticky - but since its gotten thin and runney i decided it was no better as engine oil. Since i get a 45gallon drum of the stuff for the tractors its all i use now for the chain. Damn sight cheaper too!
  11. The saw sounds like its doing its bit... see if you can try another bar on her which you know works fine - thatl answer the problem once and for all... maybe. Pain in the backside mate. Would piss me off no end! I think i wouldve tried nearest Stihl dealer and see if they would stand on for the warranty... if not then id have ripped it to bits for fun! Hope you get it sorted - you were so chuffed when you got if! You know what im thinking though.
  12. That really is a 1-off great find! Its a shame about the circumstances as to why it came about though. But aslong as shes happy then its all good. Ahh iv only got that long bar because iv a really old TV... means i can change channel without getting off the sofa (and i suffer from small dick syndrome... )
  13. Where the f@@k did you find that deal?? See when you move in, wife , we will need a saw off between that and my Makita - ofcourse my Mak costing a whure of alot more is obviously the superior saw and when it comes to bars.... mines bigger as yours Well done mate, good find! Im a total saw snob these days though, and i like my fleet of blue saws...

    Makita Saw

My new saw sat pride of place in tge livingroom for the first week... i openly told her i blew my holiday money on it and am now skint (she still booked a holiday for us all the same )... actually said it was better as a holiday - i will get much longer use out of it AND itl keep her warm all winter! To be fair she has hung around... if she will put up with that maybe i should marry her * oh god - what has she done that makes what i said OK?!?!

    Makita Saw

Didnt think you needed to 'justify' it.... just hide it!
  17. They dont get dirty! Sawdust/dirt just falls away from my 6401 (the inboard clutch is a revalation)... Dirt only sticks to sh*t, inferior products

Ah right - close but no cigar, eh. But i wasnt that far off! Bit of a shame though, 309's seem abit easier gotten on ebay!
