  1. Cheers spud - seems like me and the 42 have exactly the same symptom. Ordered new induction hose today and crank seals (never done that job) and have been struggling all night to pressure test the saw. Can't seem to find a satsfactory way to close the carb end - so many layers on this between the carb and cylinder. Should i be taking it all off and trying to bung the oval hole? With what? How? It all looks so easy to do Beginning to think I should have ordered a carb boot too - but they were 14 quid with post and it seemed ok?? Also looking at the clutch side crank seal looks like i'll have to do a lot of dismantling to get at it. Again help appreciated - I can see this is going to lack value economically but sure is learning and it's the first husky - i really like the style/construction mike
  2. Well after finally figuring out how to get that white plate off! I found the impulse tube and it seems fine - it doesn't seem to be sticking out far? is that right - and i guess the seal is made when the white plate with tube goes back and presses against the inside of that impulse tube - pushes it against the hole in the cylinder? Fitted a new fuel line and filter just in case that was drwing in air. Prob is that racy lean type idle - can't tune - chain suddenly races. Carb in us cleaner - filter was a bit rustyish - could that have caused these symptoms? Also metering lever marginally low - could that have caused that lean running Whilstit's apart at this stage is there anything else I should check - should i put some hylomar or something around outside of impulse tube? cheers folks mike
  3. cheers Bill - I haven't invested in a plastic welder yet - what kit do you use?
  4. Flymo Hover Tecumseh 2 stroke mower - always thought they were a bit of a joke until i sorted this non-runner. No spark - dirty points. No fuel - blocked jet. Amazing thing - powerful and just glides around like magic. Wondering of it's possible to plastic weld a crack in the deck? or to ally plate it? I'm impresed.
  5. cheers barrie
  6. Thanks a lot Barrie (and pressurisers)- you may well have saved me hours - we'll see - mine is a 36 - is it close to a 136 in design? Ta
  7. Much appreciated Spud - will have a shufty - cheers
  8. Any help really appreciated - this is my first fix of this nature so too much information way preferred:thumbup:
  9. I'm in the same boat with my husky 36 - sits on floor and suddenly revs up. Where's the best place to get the seals spud? Is there a rubber manifold behind carb like some saws that could be split and causing the prob? Also where do you get those crank seal pullers cheers

  11. Thanks all - just surprised at such a defect - would have thought they'd have sorted that.Ta.
  12. is very stiff to turn in the thread - is that a common problem? - should it need lubrication? - won't seal fuel tight without mole grips - not really sure how fat the o ring should be? also the holder (v shape prongs to keep it in the tank) is mising - would that affect the seal? feels like i should sand the threads on the cap to reduce them? thanks folks
  13. cheers alec
  14. who's the supplier? please
  15. nice one spud - the before and after pics really show the difference you've made is that exhaust mod miggd?
  16. nice work - looks great
  17. Cheers TCD - as far as I can see that gives the spec on older models but doesn't say much about their good , bad and ugly sides - thanks
  18. I'm impressed - you're either good at photo shop or good at repairing - nice one Barrie
  19. Hi folks I'm spending a lot of time mulling saws and garden machinery and wondering if there's any piece of work either commercial like parkers (if it's still going) or a labour of love of an individual which lists all saws - I'm thinking principally of stihls and huskies- and gives a brief summary like parkers used to - so you would know what to look for at i.e an auction or whether to jump at something or give it a wide berth. There may even be a wider garden machinery type publication?? Any help or pointers appreciated. cheers
  20. What was the problem and solution?
  21. cheers bill
  22. Flymo maxi trim I picked up. Had one in the past – loved it – everything systematically falling apart with this one. Rebuilt carb, did a simple muffler mod and away she went beautifully. Now the coil seems to have given up the ghost barely a tickle when I spin it with the drill. Flywheel re-gapped no joy. On the look out for a non rip off replacement coil - £25 s/hand on ebay is taking the p.. I think. Pioneer or partner saw (haven’t identified it) sloppy recoil jamming – needing a screw down and a bit of loctiting Muffler mod complete on this Ryobi old domestic strimmer. Coupled with a better sense for carb tuning learnt here (cheers chaps) runs and cuts like a demon on….. whatever
