  1. Cats are super restrictive! Block up all the ports with fur! All in all, we don't get many catalytic muffler saws in Europe, you should be fine.
  2. The sound you've taken more out of the internals of the transfers, muffler baffle and possibly the exhaust port (they're different shaped). It'll be where the limiter kicks in (or stops kicking in).
  3. Ain't ya bloody done that yet?! I'm getting bored not knowing how mine compares!
  4. 10 or 5 water molecules to each boron ion. 10 dissolves easier but is weaker in concentration, 5 is harder to dissolve but is stronger in concentration.
  5. Husky 450 then! 50cc homeowner saw, it won't win awards in speed or power, but it's serviceable easily. Although I stand by the point of recommending an autotune saw to a home-user.
  6. The autotune isn't important, if anything, it's better for you as you are not using the saw regular and do not retune. If you're interested on an older model, you may be able to find a decent priced one on eBay. Harrythecat is a seller on eBay who is also a member on here, so may be worth having a look at his stuff.
  7. Husky 560xp, you can swap bar size without worrying about the tuning, they're fast, and have 2 year warranty all round. As you're a non-pro user, I suggest using semi-chisel chain - it's more forgiving when you blunt the chain! I also recommend using husky saws as there are husky direct staff who can offer (partially) useful advice on here that's if spud is busy... or on the first two days of a holiday
  8. Haha quite a difference between an 009 and an 090, 81 by Stubbys logic
  9. It's a poor design in comparison to the rest of the 5 series huskies, as I've said before, it lacks all of the new XP range gizmos. May as well buy a 545 for a few quid more! For all the technophobes who don't like autotune, it's ideal, but the autotune/m-tronic squeezes out those last bits of power, that unless you carry a tach and screwdriver, are unobtainable on a normal carb saw
  10. Not what I've seen! The rims fit the ms260, which is the small 7.
  11. Can't get a 9t for the 550, let me know when you're up near Buxtons next
  12. It doesn't matter when you put it on, the autotune will compensate and retune, hell, I put 7, 8 and 9 tooth rims on my 560, then ported it, autotune just did its job!
  13. Yes, small spline is small spline! It can say Oregon, Husqvarna or Stihl, it'll still fit. You can also fit the Stihl 3/8 picco on the 550
  14. Your alternatives are a Stihl 075/6, 084 or 070/090, they're older but have plenty of grunt for big bars, and all have manual oilers
  15. Just as a note, d033 mounts are large or old Stihl mounts, but the d009 mounts have a much larger selection!
  16. Husky 3120 is your orange option, it has something the 880 hasn't got, a manual oiler! Very useful addition!
  17. Good mowers! I'm an ex greenkeeper , it's all we ever used.
  18. I once did the maths regarding the 200t muffler mod, some were drilling 2 x 8mm holes, whilst the most historic version (and the info that bought me here in the first place) was one 12mm hole. The 12mm hole actually turned out to be the larger outlet. The area of the single 9mm is 63.6mm^2, whilst the twin 6mm holes most prior have done is 56.5mm^2. A 10mm hole actually gives 1mm more area than 2 x 7mm. More (smaller) holes will produce a quieter saw as the gas doesn't escape out of one hole at once, instead it acts similar to the internal baffle. That works up to a point, my 357 has more holes in the can than metal now and quite easily overpowers the chipper within 30m!
  19. Are you trying to justify having a big saw, or what model to choose? Justification: big wood, big saw Model: Stihl 660 or 661, husky 390 or 395. And a 36" bar!
  20. Get one of these off eBay, I bought the zama and walbro for £5 all in! But flat with the sides of the carb is the height.
  21. Ok mr pedantic! A ported saw can run a longer cutting attachment similar to a stock saw running a much shorter cutting attachment, it will maintain a higher rpm under load
  22. Nope, we all know ported saws can pull bigger bars!
  23. Yours doesn't count! It's ported!
  24. Easier to do what I did, just google your patents, it gives you all the info and, most importantly, pictures!
  25. If you want Gary, I'll demonstrate by porting that 576 properly for you FOC of course!
