  1. Light seize? Or coil!
  2. The worm gear doesn't need changing, it's already set up for both drums
  3. The 365/372 copies are almost perfect now, the only thing the Chinese haven't copied is the integrated flywheel key, or the XPG models. But the 3120 I would deem is real, you have to delve very deep into the internet to find anything close to aftermarket parts that don't usually break, on the other hand, I found a cheap deal for a 3120 with 72" b&c! Postage is a bit of a killer from India! Even the dodgy Chinese copy website didn't render much - one supplier, but the minimum order was 2000 units and an 'email the supplier' price tag.
  4. As I've said before, it's stated in every manual. Alkylate fuel as preference, then jaso fd at 50:1, anything less is 33:1 minimum. How's your sore head anyway?
  5. Why? The harder you try to restrict equipment availability, the more determined they are to get it! As for butchering trees, that's what the owner wants, it's down to education at the end of the day, 95% of people can't identify 10 species of native tree, let alone what's best for the tree.
  6. Probably not, he's too busy trying to get chainsaws restricted to pro users only.
  7. The ms150 is a lovely little saw, the bar is tiny as it is too. In fact, I would say it's the best topper type that Stihl currently make, especially as the 192 will be obsolete soon. If you're going to get a mid-range saw, you'll have to go with the 550, as you get the large mount 60cc saws over there. Otherwise you'll have to use a home/land owner grade saw.
  8. The 540 is the same mount as all sub 70cc huskies, so finding a carving bar shouldn't be too difficult. Although I would say you'd be better off with a rear handle for detail work, is the 439 available over in oz?
  9. Which kit did you get off Mike? The 357 big bore has clearance issues if you don't use a gasket!
  10. Have you ever repaired a chainsaw? Or paid someone like spud, me or rich to do so? None of us are qualified to do so, we don't have the expensive paperwork to say we can fix a chainsaw, hedgecutter or strimmer. But we're cheaper than a dealer, and the outcome is the same!
  11. That's certainly better than 99% of websites I've used! Do you have a thing so you can just order a part number?
  12. Don't be boring! Make the monster saw your priority! Other than muffler and carb removal, I must say its my favourite saw to work on. Only got your email today, sorry I haven't replied, but I think I've already covered your questions?
  13. Yes the new spouts will fit the old cans.
  14. Yes, I believe it will, unless the echo caps are smaller than the 550xp ones.
  15. Made me chuckle, that's highly believable with the current company I work for...
  16. Unfortunately Jon, that is the sum total of why they were stopped. Anybody with half a brain cell wouldn't fill them past the 5L mark, but these can be brimmed. Does it make them unsafe? Hell no, but euro health and safety seemed to think so. Kev, no offence, but I can't remember who you are, I'm not going to identify who I get information from, what their positions are, or even where they are. It took me a while to decide if I'd even send you what little information I have.
  17. We have speed limits on all our canals and rivers, so the majority of boats we see are canal barges. Outboard motors are petrol, but they're mainly little fishing boats. The rich may have petrol speedboats, but with waterway restrictions, I doubt they get used as much as the US counterparts.
  18. We generally use diesel for boats, lorries and most cars. Even the decent sized ride-on mowers are diesel! There are probably stocks of ethanol free fuel, but most people won't know about them.
  19. Yes, I do have the emails saved.
  20. Unfortunately no, but I think my 346 was probably a very good one, it had been bedded in hard, and in the year I had it (damn smack heads), I'd blitzed through hundreds of trees, limbs and any other wood that needed cutting, whereas the 550 was a demo saw, it had low hours and my dealer has a habit of using 25:1 to bed saws in (whichever husky and Stihl staff came up with that need horse whipping). I then tried a 560 and never looked back. IMO you'd need to look far and wide to find a better saw than a 560xp (I currently own a vast array of Stihl and Husqvarna saws, from 346's to an 090!) if I had to pick 4 saws I'd never be without: ms150t, 560xp, 385xp and the 090, I just wish I'd bought the XPG model.
  21. A little niko? My guess is your so far out, you're in international waters!
  22. I have, I had to use a 261 all bloody week 261 is gutless, heavy and slow, even worse, it was the non m-tronic version! The 550 was (to me) disappointing, it wasn't as aggressive or loud as I expected (being an improvement of the 346xp), this of course is due to the emissions stranglehold.
  23. Metal gearboxes eh? Like the Stihl contra GS, 041G and the old homelites? All modern saws still have the same metal bits as what they were 20 years ago. Unfortunately emissions laws now restrict performance, if there were no regs, the machines would be scarily powerful! To the OP, the 50cc Stihl chainsaws are the models I hate the most, my advice would be (in order of preference) husky, dolmar then Stihl.
  24. In a nutshell, no. The ethanol is still there, it still reacts with other hydrocarbons. The stabiliser helps stop the ethanol converting to ethanoic acid, which attacks the metal bits.
