  3. And company's that advertise "fully insured" but don't have Certs... So insurance will cover...... Nothing Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Should also add, Ive seen "qualified" guys working in a manor which is scary to say the least! And capability aside, bad practice is rife. Spikes on live trees, no cambium saver etc etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. I'm currently climbing, and learning on the job. I'm doing my tickets as quickly as I can. I have cs30/31 (cost me £1000!) I have said this before but as Bruce Lee said " If you want to learn how to swim, throw yourself into water. Because on land no frame of mind will help you" I'm 22, left school into work at 15 and have no gcse's. Now run my own successful business. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  11. I just use standard grease in all out stihl gear. It needs doing so regularly there's no point in using expensive stuff. All my gear has done 2 season being serviced with standard grease, with no bearing failures at all. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  15. Thanks for the advice Gollum, I'm all for honesty and will openly admit I don't have my cs38 until next month. But we all start somewhere, Bruce lee summed it up for me. “If you want to learn to swim jump into the water. On dry land no frame of mind is ever going to help you” I thought it was 6 month intervals from what I had read, gets a big confusing with date of purchase and first use Please don't take this the wrong way, but of all the climbers I know/have met, no one has ever said they keep a weekly inspection record? 16. Im in Hertfordshire, any suggestion on a "friendly" loler tester!? Couldn't agree more dude, wise words Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Hi All, Just wondered if someone could give me a quick once over summary of loler testing. I'm currently climbing for a small domestic team whilst working toward my last couple if tickets, I have all my own gear of differing ages! So what has to be loler tested? And how often. Rope, harness, crabs, flip line, gaffs, gri gri??? Do I have to prove date of purchase!? My almost new poison hi-vy has a couple of saw catch Freys on it, will it fail!!???? Ahhhh so many questions Thanks for your patience everyone Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Hahahaha just dribbled cider! The first stem I ever chogged down when I was learning to climb (still learning!) I used gob cuts, just didn't know any better! As for pegs ..... It will only take one slip and a poke in the ribs for most people to learn the hard way Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

I completely agree Tony, but I think Gray has a point here. Surely there is no need for un-necessary risk, and or not keeping up with things as gear and techniques advance? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

Few pics of a sycamore dismantle I did over a shed/extension type thing! Also slightly random!
