  1. I'd second that, type A Glatiator and the ventilation type are the best I've tried. I've got the standard and vented type, both have rear legs zip vents, and the vented don't have the waterproof type inner coating on the fabric. The standards have gaitor type ankle cuffs but these can be removed.
  2. I think Stihl were very cautious not to get same bad rep a la early ms201's and 261's so after a few 661's developed problems they withdrew them from sale. My 661 is still running fine and it's a true weapon.
  3. Ok thanks for that Rob. What about a 16" light bar to suit 3.25" Stihl fitting 260 etc? Also are you doing the early ordering discount thing again?
  4. Sorry should have been more clear. . . I'm after the pro light bars and running them on MS361 / 044 / 461 etc
  5. Hi Rob, When will you be getting the next order of Sugihara bars in? I'm after 16" & 18" to fit Stihl running 3/8".
  6. I agree Jon they've made a mess of the whole situation and on top of the 201 and 261 initial problems they're really not boxing clever:thumbdown:. My 661 is still an ace saw though . . .
  7. I've had a 661 since they first appeared last September/October and after hearing they'd been 'recalled', enquired with Stihl. . ..this was their reply; In short the saw is a monster and much more refined than the 660 which is an excellent saw. Been running 20", 25", 30" & 36" and it's a pleasure to use. Personally I'd wait and get the 661 . ..
  8. Steer well clear of the oregon arboral as it eats away at the paint inside your oil tank and then the flakes of paint block up the oiler :thumbdown:and the only fix (for three) saws running the stuff was to split them in two and paint strip the oil tanks. If cost is an issue then cooking grade rapeseed oil is fine and you'll have no problems with lubrication but over a prolonged period (years) the build up of associated gunk can become problematic - corrosive to oil pumps, sticks to cooling fins etc. This can be remedied by regular and thorough cleaning. If cost is not an issue then the Stihl bio is good (made out of turnip oil amongst other things) and you don't get the same level of gunk build up and associated problems.
  9. Aye, fairplay to the man for fessing up to major embarrassment.
  10. 460's replacement is the 461 and they are a true weapon, ideal for your desired use running 20 or 25" . . .. . 391 isn't a pro saw:thumbdown:. And don't bother looking at the soggy lump (441)
  11. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
  12. 461 + a sugi bar = match made in heaven It's a great saw and oh so much more than the 441
  13. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
  14. How about some of the light pro bars in 16" & 18" for Stihl saws running 3/8"?
  15. And for info, the 661 is proving a very good saw so far . .. .
  16. yeah no recall, Stihl said this when I asked: Thank you for your enquiry below, I apologise for the delay in my response. The MS661 C Chainsaw was recently introduced to the GB Market, which was developed and produced with the utmost care. Despite this care, in-house quality tests have revealed few examples of malfunctioning engines in our first production run and very small number of cases have occurred in actual use. These problems specifically relate to the satisfactory performance of the engine. I must stress that it is not a recall. STIHL is synonymous with quality and the complete satisfaction of our customers will always be our top priority. It is with this in mind we have stopped producing this model at this time. If your machines have been running without issue, there should not be a problem with your MS661’s in use. However should you have encountered running problems from the outset, please refer to your local Dealer who will assess the item and seek our advice. I trust this clarifies your enquiry, however should you have any further concerns you wish to discuss please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, Claire Wells Customer Relations Advisor

  18. 461 every time and they are simple and reliable, pulls anything from 16" - 32"
  19. I got an 044 kat and swapped the kat for the dual port exhaust off the 046/460, tuned up and my god what a difference, turned a gutless lump into a burbling dream tool. Stick a 16" on if you really want to have some fun
  20. Had mine since they just came out, £850 with heated handles. Hadn't heard they'd stopped selling!?
  21. Hey Jon, I've been using it on 30" to cut through billet bundles and it pulls really well. It says in the manual that you run anywhere between 16 - 36" although I think with 16 on the go she'd be a bit too lively. Good saw and very impressed so far.
  22. 661 so far so good:thumbup:, been running 20 & 30" .. ...
