  1. I got an 044 kat and swapped the kat for the dual port exhaust off the 046/460, tuned up and my god what a difference, turned a gutless lump into a burbling dream tool. Stick a 16" on if you really want to have some fun
  2. Had mine since they just came out, £850 with heated handles. Hadn't heard they'd stopped selling!?
  3. Hey Jon, I've been using it on 30" to cut through billet bundles and it pulls really well. It says in the manual that you run anywhere between 16 - 36" although I think with 16 on the go she'd be a bit too lively. Good saw and very impressed so far.
  4. 661 so far so good:thumbup:, been running 20 & 30" .. ...
  5. Stacking for free???!!!!! What have you been doing, running a charity???!!!
  6. There's no contest ... . 461 every time
  7. Nice, what make is the skidding grapple?
  8. 44 every time:thumbup:
  9. Had one for a few days, but not fully run in yet. running 20", will post review when it's done some proper work.
  10. If just for arb ground work then Ms200, MS461, MS660
  11. Stihl MS 661 - Bilder • Motorsägen-Portal Few more teaser shots
  12. The 461 is available in other countries with heated handles but Stihl UK don't offer it for some reason. Unless your going to be running the saw for long periods in cold and/or wet weather then I wouldn't bother with them. 441 is just a different kind of saw you'll either love it or hate type thing. AV's are squishy and it just doesn't feel like the solid power horse that is the 461.
  13. Stop it you're getting me all hot and bothered at the mere thought of it:laugh1:
  14. 461 is a peach of a saw and the choice over the 441. More power and only tad more weight and you can pull a bigger range of bar sizes 16" -32" I think from memory. Shares many parts with tried and tested 460 and is basically an updated revision of that saw. Have had one since Feb and it's been faultless.
  15. Scotspine1 I think you're missing the point completely, like Steve says that particular tree would have needed a hell of a lot of rigging and lowering to get it down safely (by climbing) due to the extensive targets underneath. With tree work you should always explore whether there is a method which doesn't involve WAH and take that option if possible. What is in question, is somebodies judgement who watched that video and thinks climbing is the preferred option when clearly (going on the video - the only evidence available) it isn't. In addition, not only would climbing be the greater risk (from an operatives point of view) but think how much it'd cost the poor customer for the thing to be dismantled.
  16. Out of pure interest. Have you ever done any tree work, felling etc?
  17. Hi Rob, Have these bars got the replaceable nose, same as the 3/8' picco ones you sell for 200's and alike?
  18. No worries:biggrin:
  19. We could go round the houses all night on this . .. I don't mean plunging the thing in the ground so it's dead blunt. The acuter profile of a full chisel cutter is more susceptible to blunting if it contacts anything abrasive, once the point has gone its lost its sharp edge - which makes it the faster cutting chain.
  20. Sorry I wasn't clear on it loosing its edge easier - if you saw through some earth / grit then it'll have more affect on full rather than semi chisel. But I agree just sawing in wood it'll keep its edge just the same.
  21. The difference between full and semi chisel is that full chisel cuts faster but can loose its edge easier and requires greater precision filing whilst semi chisel cuts slower but won't loose its edge as easily and requires less precision with the file. There's nothing says they still cut when damaged.
  22. You can run the MS241 on either 3/35" or 3/8"picco chain so that's the anomaly. Picco sizes are 14", 16" & 18" and if your running 3/25" then 13", 15" and 16". I'm personally running 14" picco set up with one of them Sugihara bars and it's a delight - the picco chain has a narrower profile so therefore requires less effort from the saw to pull it through the kerf. Don't forget you'll need to change your sprocket to suit whatever size chain your running eg 3/25 or picco. On Robs site if you're after 14, 16 etc then just order a bar for an MS200.
