  1. What made you go with this supplier and not someone off here? Was it anything to do with cost? If you've paid the going rate then you have my sympathy but if not . ..
  2. Why not both - tool for every occasion!
  3. 461 has the better power to weight ratio. The 441 is a fat squidgy and in comparison underpowered lump. 461 every time.
  4. I remember when flush cutting was all the rage, eeh how fashions change
  5. Nice little machine. . .. .shame about the dodgy snedding & appropriate ppe use [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0nwOwhR_C0]ATV Loading timber with remote-controlled hydraulic winch - YouTube[/ame]
  6. The reason for the appearance of this tree and probably the ones you mention in SE Wales is due to the massive energy input into last years heavy mast year. There are uninfected Ash all over looking like this, it's happened in previous years but I suppose there just under closer observation these days.
  7. It's not ported but as the exhaust is the same as the 46/460 I've fitted the dual port front cover off the Magnum and then tuned to suit. Certainly worth doing for the cost. Have a look on here for the part number: http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/2062847/ms460-pl-pdf-july-12-2010-9-13-pm-663k?da=y
  8. Also you can run 16" - 32" bars no problem.
  9. MS461 and whack a dual port exhaust front cover on for good measure.
  10. Hand weeding! - £500 per day . . ..excl vat
  11. From my understanding (Continental experience) there are no Ash trees 'resistant' to Chalara, as they will all become infected and show some symptoms of dieback. There will be differing levels of tolerance, some individuals having almost none and some having very high levels but this is different to being resistant. In comparison to Elm, say where there is a healthy mature specimen growing in an area where DED is active, there is a good Beetle population and it is adjacent to dead and dying infected Elms - all which have been the case for a lengthy period - would strongly suggest that it is resistant, as there is no way that Beetles will not have fed on it.
  12. Glad to be of use. From memory with ours I unscrewed the spark arrestor from the exhaust and then cut of the mesh element with a hack saw and then re-fitted. Exactly the same size exhaust opening so should be the same db, just with no screen to get blocked up.
  13. I think the late flushing of the mature (females) trees is due to last years heavy mast using up a lot of their energy reserves. Also due to the mild winter/spring I think many other species had an early bud burst and even fruit forming stage! Which amplifies the late Ash, at least that's the way up North (currently Chalara free).
  14. Will you be offering the early order discounts again? Also can you confirm whether you ordered any 16" light pro bars to fit Stihl running 3.25"? and also 18" light pro bars to fit stihl running 3/8"?
  15. That's the first thing I thought on watching that crap video was Chav jeans! ha ha Not sure the camera operator is much better standing directly in line with the saw should the chain snap!

  17. Hi Rob - When is the next lot of Sugi bars due in?
  18. I run two of these and they both did the same, you can actually remove the spark arrestor and it'll run fine then.
  19. Aye it's funny how I've bought Stihl saws with no bar and chain too!
  20. Firstly you need to consider whether the tree needs to be dealt with immediately in the interests of public safety? If the answer is no then cordoning off the site, signage and waiting until the the chicks have fledged and the nest is no longer used is the best option. As any action liable to disturb them would require a licence from Natural England. If it needs dealing with immediately then following the advice given here would be your best course of action http://www.trees.org.uk/aa/documents/arb-ac-help/NE-Bat_habitat_assessment_guidance-102010.pdf
  21. I wouldn't have such a problem with this bloody policy if my local Stihl dealer was any cop, but they aren't . . ..I once tried ordering some full chisel chain and was told that the only type of chain available was semi chisel (although he didn't even know what that was called). Last Stihl saw I brought I found the nearest Stihl dealer offering the cheapest price (actually cheaper than Jones) and drove the hour there to pick it up and the benefit to me as a customer of picking it up in person, well I had the manager wearing only pointy shoes and a suit as PPE start it up and rev it for me . .. to, well demonstrae it did so I imagine:confused1: What a load of s***
