  2. Brown is hard to sell but it's well worth hanging on to, it will sell eventually but someone has to really want it
  3. I also used some in my dining table against ash it looks lovely
  4. Brown oak can look lovely when all finished. My first go at making anything was this brown oak show rack

  8. We have got some giant London plain. And the one we have milled so far had more metal than tree
  9. We supply a lot of cedar for decking and larch also, more stable and cheaper than oak
  10. We have never found a reliable one so we are also keen to see what people come up with!

  14. We sell large bundles for £20 softwood and oak from when we trim beams
  15. Well the dust when we were cutting cedar of Lebanon, lol is really fine and made his eyes run. So although a different species still worth wearing a bit of protection from the dust.

  17. Thanks for posting about the toxins in cedar, our lad wore a mask and goggles and even still the next day his eyes were streaming! Think was cos of the dust it's very fine
  18. We were milling some Lebenum today 👍
  19. This is why we set and sharpen all out blades ourselves, obviously this is not easy for everyone but it's one of the basics of running a good mill
  20. We have a vast supply of beams that have been air drying over the years so yes if your in the area feel free to pop in, prices do vary depending on size etc and how friendly were feeling 😜
  21. Shame your not nearer Sussex we have some lovely old beams that make beautiful mantles, don't go reclamation you'll pay way over find a sawmill with old beams or fencers with old stock

Just a little note, we used to go through loads of blades due to snapping, the one single way we stopped this is by letting them rest once one has been used we cool it up and don't to uh it for at least 24hrs before we then set and sharpen. Haven't had any snap on us in a long while and as said earlier the only thing we can moan about is how sharp they are, but that's done in house lol

  24. Shame your not near us we can mill 2m wide accurately with our new milk
