    Hi Dave have a 3ton fransguard winch will have a look at mine on tuesday as cant remember ...off the top of my head i think theres a threaded bolt which is located on the metal plate round the drum which you adjust to increase or decrease the tension. will look tuesday though if no one comes up with the answer.

    if it on wheels is it not classed as a temporary structure????? if not stable block on a sled is classed as a temporary structure not much difference.

    looks like igland with those levers... but could be a fransguard both good winches, I own both makes, worth their weight no matter what the make. cables are not that expensive try farm sales or ex mod dealers for the cables.
