  1. Problems With Cherry Laurel Trees | Garden Guides Not that detailed but is a stepping stone possibly.
  2. Could be fireblight.
  3. One of the things that I look for when looking at C.V.s is the spelling. There is no excuse for incorrect spelling on a C.V. as nearly all are made on some sort of word processor with spell check. (Bad words are underlined in red line !) At the moment your C.V. would be filed in the misc. section of the bin. If you did manage to get an interview the first question I would ask is to explain these magical good time keeping skills. I would be looking for a very creative answer. If not I would be going back to my lunch break. Don't know what the hell City and guilds ict is? On a layout point of view I would put your most recent activities at the top of each heading. As I scan a C.V. I want to know what you are doing NOW and then look back at other jobs in a chronological order. The same goes for your educational background. Put your most recent, which is usually your highest award first and then go backwards until you get to GCSEs. Hobbies and interests are a bore to me as they usually make the person out to be boring and conformist. You say you like motor sports particularly off roading ? Do you participate or are you sitting watching the telly? We all like to be fit and healthy, do you participate in team sports, do you have a training regime, are you on any mental diet plan ? I would also change the " I like socialising in my spare time" as that to me infers that you will be on your mobile all the time to your mates. You could change that for:" I have a close circle of supportive friends who regularly meet up for...( some sort of organised social activity.)You don't need to lie just elaborate. These are just some pointers for you which you can take with a pinch of salt if you want. Just giving you the opinion of someone hiring an employee. You have to understand that YOU have to stand out in a C.V. without writing War and Peace. There are too many people applying for jobs with the same wording and layouts. I would hazard a guess that this Indigo training helped you collate and produce the C.V. If they did then they are doing you a great disservice and that is not on. It's not all doom and gloom just a bit of careful thought and attention to detail and you will get there. Remember this is YOUR C.V. Hope that helps.
  4. Years ago in a past life I worked for a double glazing company making these units. It was expensive stuff and there was always someone trying to put the coating to the inside of the unit !! That's how I got into horticulture as quality controlling all these expensive coatings and just the handling of them was becoming a nightmare. I'm sure the designers of that building were using the finest materials. From what they showed of the inside it looks rather nice. One of those things you have to see before you die me thinks.
  5. I was told you need water to activate the self cleaning glass, don't think the desert has a lot of that.
  6. I'll get me coat
  7. Big knife and a headband for me.
  8. I would recommend Jonesie as well very good price and service is second to none.
  9. I just carve whatever whenever. If you make a pigs ear of it turn it into something else or use it to keep you warm this winter. If the weather is going to be as bad as many peeps are saying I think were going to have some ice carving !! As long as you are honing your skills it really doesn't matter.
  10. Gnome

    Arghhhh!

tell them they make coffins out of elm and that they will end up sitting on a death bench. the old ones don't like that sort of thing especially as winter takes a few of them. joking aside I think a substitute bench or combination of benches would probably go down better. Something with the name of the place carved in?
  11. very nice.
  12. SPRAY PATTERN INDICATOR BLUE - FARMURA 1LTR Thats what I use. Available in green too for some reason.
  13. I noticed proffers as well but I thought it was down to language used in the tendering process.
  14. After reading your first post on the topic I thought I had better take Mrs. Gnome out to see for myself. I now understand why you were so chuffed at this film. In my opinion the best Bond film, had a bit of everything you expect and more. Even made me feel proud to be British and i'm from Jockland. wasn't sure about the new Q, we looked at each other with raised eyebrows but were soon grinning. Gun and a Radio superb. Clever casting as well. So Mr. Fox we all know James Bond will return but what film will be next from you? hope it's not the bloody Hobbit.
  15. Very smart professional looking site. Plenty of good quality pictures to show what you are about. Always good to see actual workers in the pictures as well makes your company feel more friendly when peeps are smiling. Found the home page a bit slow to load the picture galleries but might have just been my computer as I'm gaming at the moment as well. (talking seconds). One thing I could suggest is having some sort of quick loading home page with essential details for quick mobile access. just a thought not a criticism. Well done.
  16. Yup that's a belter!
  17. I avoid touching Prunus sp. due to silver leaf (May-June as long as the weather is dull) Then once all my leaves are cleared up in December the tools come out. I always try to pick the best weather conditions to do any of my jobs. It's a luxury that I know many of you guys just don't have. If a butterfly flaps it's wings the wrong way the job doesn't get done. There's always something else to keep me going. I am always keen to listen to young and old as long as there is a reason that seems reasonable to me. I've always liked it when apprentices have asked me why I do something. Shows there interested. They soon learn not to get too clever cos there is always digging to be done!!
  18. Think you will be well chuffed with your new toy. Have had my eye on one of those beauties for years, just not got the space for it. I've got a Record CL3 lathe and have always been impressed with the quality of there tools, accessories and service. The lathe had been standing in my shed for about 5 years and I thought the worst as the roof had given up being a roof. The whole machine was soaking. Half an hour drying off and a squirt of oil here and there and it was running as sweet as when I got it. Sheffield England nuff said. Oh and I'm liking your work too.
  19. Yup a square km would take me longer than an hour to clear ! Think I would have to change me pants a few times before that job had finished!! 1km2 = 1 million square metres. or 100 ha. Its the old area mixup again. Think we all know what you meant Zeroluke.
  20. I'd say that's more than good for an hours work.
  21. If you have access to an air compressor it makes cleaning alot easier and quicker.(Goggles too)!! I'm just a humble gardener and i've replaced 2 cylinders and pistons.(Not on the same machines I may add). I found keeping all screws and bits and bobs in a long tray from left to right as they come off helps putting it back together. The piston circlips are a pain. I found the new ones were not as good as the originals so used them. A wee tube of gasket sealant is what I smear to the bottom of the cylinder making sure none gets inside the cylinder. I used 2 stroke oil on a swab ( bit like a cottonbud) to lightly coat piston, cylinder, bearings. Stick some Floyd on and take it easy. Satisfaction is definitely guaranteed.
  22. That's a nice piece of wood there sir. I wouldn't call myself a turner but I have a lathe and dabble now and then. I have turned kiln dried stuff and exotic bits and bobs. But turning green wood that I have cut straight out of a tree is very satisfying. As Bob says it will probably crack and warp but if you want a perfect shape bowl TESCO sells that kind of stuff. What I do with irregular stuff is have a look at it. (cup of tea) Decide on size then mount a faceplate and mount to the lathe. Get a pencil and hand turn it while holding the pencil against the wood this in turn gives an outline to which i set about it with my little MS211. this will put less stress on the lathe when that thing starts spinning and less time with the roughing out gouges. I would take Bob up on the offer as it is a great feeling having something sit on your table that you have made yourself. remember and protect yourself as Ash dust is not good in your lungs. Hope this helps. (I'm on the Henry Westons tonight so brain is starting to sllloooow down)
  23. Writing my letter to Santa !
  24. Just have a little tinkle in the river upstream from time to time, can't even see past the waterfall.
