  1. Thanks for the pics of your spuds Tony. I have always just accepted the shrinkage in the chitted spuds. Your technique looks to be going very well. As for the peas I would nip out the tips if they are getting too straggly. This Baltic air will do them no got so don't be tempted just yet.
  2. Well Tony for the first time I am using a reduced peat growing media. It's a bit of a gamble for me but thought I would have a go at saving the planet for you. SHL POTTING PRO 50 GROWING MEDIUM 75LTR If all goes well I might even roll the dice next year and go all in. Sinclair New Horizon Pro Pot / Bedding Compost 75LTR Here's some organic fertiliser ideas. Organic Fertilisers for Commercial Growers
  3. Click sellers name: this should open a new window with the sellers profile. Scroll down and you should see five pictures. The large picture should be a generator for welding. Hover your mouse/touchpad over the saw without clicking anything and this will give you the buyitnow price. click on the picture and then click on the (11bids) above the place bids button. On the far right of the new window the info regarding reserve being met will present itself to you.
  4. Click on the sellers name then hover over the picture of the saw and it is indicating a buy it now price of £500. It also states that the reserve has been met so £501 might snake it. I think you might have a bargain there, looks real to me. Hope that helps. A new 372 is going to set you back around 700.
  5. Don't want to appear rude but on my CS30 test I had to comment on checking the condition of the bar and problems that arise from wear. Checking straightness and using bar dresser etc. Formal training when using a chainsaw may be a good idea. I personally don't assume someone knows what there doing because they check the depth gauges. My suggestion check the condition of the bar as stated and if that seems to be a problem buy another bar if you are only going through them every 8 years. I would get a new chain and sprocket as well, treat yourself. In fact air filter, fuel filter and new spark plug and give the machine a good blast with a compressor and you will have a new saw. Hope that helps.
  6. Yes I had a look when you first posted. Some of the requests are completely bonkers. Very clever indeed.
  7. I think thats a very good philosophy you've got there.
  8. Hi Dave, I've got a Record CL3 with the bowl turning attachments. 5 speed belt driven. If you can I would recommend getting one with the variable speed module as it gives you a bit more control and less faffing about changing gear by moving the belts manually. Your turning tools and sharpening jigs/grinder are just as important IMO.
  9. You will probably get them cheaper everywhere else lol. You can easily google the model numbers.
  10. Seed Spreaders | Grass Seed Spreader | Scotts Seed Spreader | Pitchcare Good selection of spreaders to look at.
  11. Correction the 12" stihl code is 3670 000 0064 not 3650 sorry for the tube like schoolboy error!!
  12. Stihl CHAIN LOOP PM3 1/4 - 3670 000 0056 3670 000 0056 These were the first two that came up on google for the part number. I would give Rob at Chainsawbars or Jonesie an email to see if they can get you them. Stihl strange that you can't order them from your local dealer?
  13. Smaller engine and lighter than the 192.
  14. 10" 1/4P 1.1mm Picco Micro3 (PM3) 3670 000 0056 12" 1/4P 1.1mm Picco Micro3 (PM3) 3650 000 0064 This info is from the Stihl Catalogue I would hope any dealer can supply you with these. Perhaps where you got the saw. Hope this helps.
  15. Your spot on Robert, thanks. I think I am pretty good at judging the quality of tools so I'm going to ask to see one before I buy, but you have given me the answer and reassurance I was seeking for the tasks in hand.
  16. Personally I find logging in an enjoyable experience. The variety of topics keeps the site fresh. I would like to think that if I overstepped the mark that I was quickly informed. And if anyone had a problem with the way I conduct myself then a PM is another way of tackling issues. Sure some topics can be controversial like some recent ones(coughs!)and some school yard banter occurs but it's a good laugh at the end of, for me, can be really tough days. I take my job very seriously (some say too seriously) so all the help and advice I get is a real plus. As I have said before I ain't a climber so all you guys up in the trees have every right to look down on me. I give you my respect for the dangerous and technical job you do. My job also has dangers and challenges so mutual respect would be appreciated. I would like to think I add some constructive info/banter to this community.
  17. I understand what you are saying as I love using good gear. Stihl/ Husky saws, brushcutters, blowers, Hayter lawnmowers and Kubota Ride on,Bulldog hand tools and silkys. I really can't justify spending that kind of money on something I will rarely use at the moment. If I am getting more tickets done this year then I would be expecting the work to pay for such kit as I would be qualified to use them for tree work on the estate. Wouldn't dream of using a tirfor on hang ups, large stumps without some sort of instruction and certificate of competance. As I am not self employed, time is not really as critical to me. I can always make time for such activities during my working day. the critical thing for me is moving the timber in a controlled manner and taking the strain off my back.
  18. Great stuff chaps. The low cost of the winch will enable me to get a decent chocker chain and round sling. If i'm having problems with the winch I can then always upgrade as required. As stated quite light work and very occasional. Anything is better than the magic blue nylon rope!!!
  19. Thanks for the advice chaps. I've had a look at the alternatives. I understand about pulling rolling stock v dead weight. The length of cable is concerning me too. Don't think i'll push it to it's limits but i'm going to get one to try it out. Even if it helps for pulling my ride-on out in those emergency stuck in the mud situations may be useful. Will update on the verdict/results.
  20. Toolstation > Automotive > Jacks, Stands & Winches > Pull Winch Saw this when I was looking through the catalogue. I was wondering if anyone has used this type of winch. I am well aware of the Tirfor winch but couldn't justify the purchase of one for these applications. 1. Pulling out very small stump/shrub material. 2. Rescuing the odd chance my ride-on gets stuck. 3. Manouvering logs in tight spots where I can't get vehicular access. (Mainly carving material and the odd log for milling). I have seen a couple on ebay stating there use for stumps and caravans. But always wary of such claims. Don't imagine working anything near to the 4000kg rating. Any advice would be great thanks.
  21. Good attitude to take. Sure it gives you a scare. As you say it could have been any number of things. But they do give you a nasty bite don't they!!!!
  22. The other point I forgot to add was having these programs on the BBC. I feel these sort of programs would be more suited to SKY or other pay per view mediums. I'm sure they could make alot more money with adverts during the show, Similar to the money generated during the Superbowl. Would cut down on some of the woeful scetches.
  23. Steve there is a difference from something like comic relief to the work that you do. When I have respect for someone then I do what I can for them. What you do in my book is very commendable and I gave what I could to get your target up and I know where that money was going. I do my bit for local charities and am the first to help the old dears across the street etc. So I wouldn't call myself sad and sick, far from it. I just don't believe my hard earned would help matters to these big causes. Don't see a Syria aid as they are having a terrible time over there arn't they.
  24. Personally I've never donated to comic relief/children in need/live aid. I just can't stand the list of people that turn up to do these gigs. I used to watch them from start to finish when I was younger, more for the challenge of not falling asleep. The talent is really poor. As for the starving kids, I've never once felt any sort of guilt or sorrow. There are too many people in the world anyway. Helping them to me just makes the situation worse. I don't see the rich giving me a helping hand. Life is just your Donald Duck some have, some don't. Triple D is on in 10 mins, Oh would that be in bad taste? Not known for my compassion, but i wouldn't knock those who like to help out those less fortunate.
