  1. i didn't tar, i quoted 'brave' these are boys with alot more understanding and own up asap, and some offer to pay for the mistake.
  2. Employees dont not respect property. but on a monday morning, ask them to sign an agreement to cover the weeks damages to all and sundry. I bet they will freak out, and only the brave will sign and take responsabilty.
  3. Do you use guess work? or is pricing based on diameters, boughs and twigs?
  4. depends on your kit, speed and skills. don't do daily rate, and do jobs by price alone. 3 in a day, would be a real winner. Don't go tight on groundies, they need all they can get too.
  5. The strange thing about conifers, is the fact the owners just think the are a fluffy hedge and because it cost £3 to plant it's never going to cost £2000 to remove?? is it There is more to a conifer than meets the eye, count every stem, and work out a multiplier for the brash. I don't do them, I overprice and walk away
  6. That sounds spot on, excellent efficiency - and money for the boys.
  7. being in business is about profit. most sole traders don't quite get it in any industry. i was thinking of starting a thread to up the anti on pricing, as these days we need all we can get...

  9. as above its all a bit of 2 and frowwing, if its jammed, wooden mallet, then back on rig. sometimes its easy, sometimes not.
  10. i use a pair of 2:1 petzl Twin Pulley - P65
  11. if you have only used standard arb kit, due to training thats the feelings you have. I have been climbing/abseiling for 25yrs, so everything is looked at in essence.
  12. dynamic rope means there is give in the rope to aid falls. static means the rope has very little if not any stretch. both are ok for lanyards as you are not going to drop far. as for the silky worries, why not replace the core of your rope with dyneema, it will knock loads of weight off and any silky will struggle to cut through it 2 to 4 strokes.
  13. at a guess your cs32 covers the crown roll or movement etc. what you should do is support the car with the logs you remove, to stop any movement, and let the firemen sort it out.
  14. sometimes life is like that, you don't need a mallet when a spanner will do:lol:
  15. I had 'sports strop'? using dynamic 10mm line for about 2yrs, its very light and easy to use, worth a try if you just want light kit for certain jobs. But over time the core started to compress and bunch up, so the prussic started to jam. I think a tougher 10mm>11mm rope is a better option.
  16. 10.5mm is a better choice, static line is dirt cheap.
  17. wonder if i could get a crew and sit back and eat me sarnies i'll just throw a rope up and give it pull when the time is right.....
  18. the odd clip could have reeeked havoc, re-rendering the bungaloo is a costly affair.
  19. That sounds spot on, what I like is the clever tricks to dismantle, including new products and thoughts. The dyneema I use, took the brunt of a couple of scots pine limbs with ease, both the rigging pulley and the capstan were secured with 11mm whoopies.
  20. nice that your back, did not want to look like a derailment with the dyneema ROPE (not sling) things. just wanted some positive/negative reactions to its use, most seem put off by myths.

    Flip line

i made one, you do need to know your stuff, you can do it for £15
  22. i had a little think.... so here goes... When I was very young 3 maybe 4yrs, I remember having one of those rollercoaster toys, where the cars went up a conveyor belt, then back down the track. The next memory is one about 5 or 6yrs old, it was meccano set which you built a crane, with wheels, pullies and cable! I am an engineer at heart, sorry if its not green enough
  23. speeding is wrong. but i see where your coming from, i can tell you what to do, but you have wrote a letter in defence by the sounds. pm me if stuck.
