Mr Devile???? makes me sound like Cruella's husband... i will need a close up of the endgrain sanded to 400g to be sure but i believe this may be one of the Afzelia genus which are hard and tough timbers that have historically been used for flooring. if i was sent a sample i could be 100% sure.

Mark, the monkey puzzle is by definition not a Pine mate. it's an Araucarian. also looking at the books the scots pine is harder than monkey puzzle. Austrian Pine | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Softwood) WWW.WOOD-DATABASE.COM cedar of lebanon is a good one for flooring or douglas fir.

only the oak is durable so i would not use the rest for an outdoor BBQ area myself. 40-50mm is fine for milling to but keep a heavy weight on top of the stack to keep them flat whilst they dry.

if you could sell some to the UK when dry that would be great. how wide are some of the trees?

don't get me wrong mate i'm not saying it's ok to breath in dist for a laugh i'm simply saying that all dust is pretty much the same when it comes to anything that is grown or can be milled in the UK. one could possibly have an dermatologically allergic reaction to certain trees but that's about it in my view.

i hope everyone realises that they are more likely to get killed by a badly felled tree... toxicity goes around the woodturning forums all the time and i'm yet to have anyone give an example where wood toxicity was a major factor. foliage is a different matter.

i've stopped work myself due to the fact i have a mother in the 70+ bracket who has Diabetes meaning she is at greater risk and the wankers at the joinery where i rent space do jack shit so far as sanitation goes so i'm staying away. i've little work and no money. guess i'd better look into what the government is doing to actually help self employed people...

can't say that i'm a restorer but i do like to get my hands on old furniture and refurbish it. others may say i've ruined some old furniture but i like to think i give it new life. what sort of furniture are you looking to do?

Pinus radiata readily takes preservative treatments but in my opinion that amount of large trees should be used for cutting into joinery timber. try getting in contact with big sawmills who cut joinery wood... thats a big area, can you be more specific? what's the nearest town or village. i'll put this on facebook if you want to see who would be interested in some branches as i hate to see good wood go to waste... could you supply a picture or two of the trees.
