  1. [/ATTACH] Large ash tree in Dublin today 40" at base.
  2. In the same boat as above , lots of gear and not a lot of time to use it , got to climb (indoors) last week first time in years , it was hell on the body. before the child's came along I was climbing E3 top roped.
  3. A few extra items I like to have in my kit , Eye wash both 20ml and 500ml bottle. Field dressing a good blood stopper. Pocket mask as well as revive aid. Tape , lots off.
  4. Has anyone but a 20" bar on 880 ?? and how did it go?
  5. 2 bars I use , most of the time 20" and bigger jobs 30" .

  7. Boots , Boots and more boots , I'm going over to the UK (Bradford) in May for the weekend and looking for some were to get new saw boots would like to try them on before buying can you help. Has anyone got a price on those boots yet ??
  8. I was talking to a NPTC trainer who was do a tree job with a company and there grounds man put his rope into the chipper wile he was climbing he cut the rope just in time , and the grounds man ran like the wind as he was making his way out of the tree.

  10. I'm the great young age soon to be 40 and love to climb , I'm not that fast but take my time and do it right , only did CS 38 & 39 last year , so I would say follow your dream and go do it , best of luck.

  15. I get a friend of mine to make them with a table saw out of ash , that way if I catch them with the saw or leave them behind it fine and cost nothing. But I have have 3 plastic one as well. The wooden one are good for cross cutting large logs to keep them open.
  16. The bigger it is the harder it will fall & the best time to plant a tree was 50 years ago the next best time is now.

  19. That is some bus . well done looks very clean.

I started in school and from there did 3rd level and trained in the great out doors , worked all over Ireland for about 2 years (not a great life) ran just about every river here and like other people here did the Liffey decent about 8 time in my life , canoeing clubs are the best way to go , they have the people and gear to help you out and in winter they run courses in pools (warm) and there is canoe polo great fun , try and get to a lake in Wicklow a few time a year now that's about it.
  21. When he's up a tall tree , call him and show him the other end of his climbing rope going into the chipper , see how fast he really is.
