  1. Hey patty , the picks were pretty terrible in this vid mate , its been said above i know but you have to be careful. i know guys do but i don't agree with falling timber into a crane, for those long sticks you could have put the sling closer to the centre of gravity and then it would reduce that swing when the piece is removed........ the crane op had way to much tension on the piece and you as the climber should be reading that through your cuts..... don't want to be a dick bro but hopefully you get some good pointers out of the replies , Cheers mate , stay safe.
  2. Haha yeah mate I was laughing because I said to the guys earlier that it would be wise to move the tramp. The trick was to take big pieces and land them flat as it was just a big slope and if anything flipped it would go into those marble pillars .
  3. Just a cut and leave , she had a pretty decent split but plenty of room to drop pieces which is quite rare over here. I just had to make sure nothing flipped down the bank to he house, Nice friday morning job [ame= ] [/ame]
  4. Hey bro , try 10 mm volcano , I'm yet to find a rope it doesnt work well with . I'm thinking that fly has pretty similar qualities to tachyon ( albeit a different rope construction ) in regards to stretch and handling . volcano runs a dream on tach so give it a blast.
  5. knot funny mark this is someones rope we are talking about mate if its through four and you can see the core then you have a new lanyard dude , don't climb on that.
  6. first video , at 50 seconds the block is upsidedown.
  7. Don't forget your roots my friend. haha this can be used under a wrench also Ben.
  8. what an amazing tree, good work dude
  9. Hey Lads , the Mrs has just been accepted for an internship at a cool place in san fran , Its four months long starting august. so that got me thinking what the hell i should get upto? It gives me the opportunity to do a little more work around some different european countries while she's not here but I'm pretty keen to check out and work in the states also , Has anyone had experience with obtaining a work visa and was it a difficult process? Cheers in advance boys
  10. Haha well played mate .
  11. Goodluck bro:lol:
  12. Cheers mate , Glad you got it sorted.
  13. nice to see the x tender in full swing ben , just got back from holiday dude , sick clip.
  14. nice ! lucky to have such an epic drop zone too.
  15. what about just doing a big alpine and girth hitching in onto the ring? it would sit a lot nicer and not be as bulky. good stuff though lads.
  16. easy answer is a pinto rig , thats a bombproof pulley , you can even do some heavy stuff on it as long as its not shock loading to seriously .I natural crotch quite often for force distribution on removals , i'll be the broken record and say again its all about vector force ......... time and place for everything I say.
  17. Its an investment , anything that can save your body and be productive is ok in my books , just remember the forces that can get put on those hooks , above 120 degrees puts your whole amount of weight onto that anchor point and hook so anything above that skyrockets the force 160 degrees is around 3 times the weight , to be fair you should not be putting that amount of force in your traverse system but you get what i mean, any old bit of pipe won't really do .
  18. I hope you had a throwing hook mate , that looks like some pretty physical climbing if not. great work and good to see preservation of such a magnificent tree.
  19. The volcano movement has begun it's good stuff eh? how do you find the movement with the spacer , comparable to a pulley?
  20. *cough* wrench *cough* I took some vids of my knot working on dbrt and with the wrench just for you old mill😙 it's possible , don't give up . cougar is heavy but really nice .
  21. I read the op wrong , if you are talking about big limbs snapping when you are tied into them ? If this happens you are doing something very wrong . If it's due to splitting then take some weight out or do the right cuts . Imo climbing around a tree with a cable tie or breakable soft link is just asking for trouble .
  22. just tie a quick release knot into your d's if you have any worries about the tree splitting or if your up a windblown tree and don't want to be taken with it if something goes wrong.
  23. Rag it up a bit , it's probably still quite new . Climb ddrt on it for a few days to fluff it up a little .
  24. If you had the rope pop off a portawrap it was defiantly setup wrong or you had a tremendous amount of slack in the system and no wraps ??? you will be surprised at what a system can hold if the forces are managed correctly , for top roping you can get away with a lot but id be careful doing negative rigging on such a small line , change your sling on the isc block then get yourself a 14 mm bull rope and a fixed bollard, after that you can dump some pretty serious pieces on the system.
  25. Haha i nearly took my head off on the ground but that was it
