  1. Awesome, thanks all! So helpful! I ordered a Meteor piston in the end since the price difference is small and the piston is tired. It's my saw; I swore off Huskies for life having found them to be infinitely less fun to work on than Stihl/Dolmar/Echo/Oleo, but I couldn't resist a cheap 346! So light! So zippy! Zip zip! Fiddly though innit? Around the carb I mean. For my montrous man-hands anyway!
  2. This is for the older version (46cc). I usually buy piston rings from this guy too, but he doesn't stock them for the newer (50cc) version.
  3. Trying to get a genuine or at least DECENT aftermarket ring for the 50cc version. 44.3mm I think. For some reason this is proving difficult! Any ideas? Has the part number changed or anything? The older version seems readily available...
  4. Hello! Anybody know if there is a single kit available to convert an old non-adjustable 026 to adjustable? Not so bothered about the adjustable bit, more about the oiler running on idle... If not, does anybody happen to know which parts I need? Ta!
  5. I have the model one up from this (although I can't really see any difference) and haven't had a single issue. Also run on Aspen. Top value.
  6. Thanks so much for that! Those threads were very helpful. I'll fiddle more today, and if I can't get anywhere then I'll see if that chap can offer any ideas... Thanks again. TCD, do you have a price in mind? Maybe you could PM me if you do? Cheers!
  7. Hello! I have a Makita DCS6000i (Domar PS6000i), and need a tiny bit of help with the choke valve. Does this valve just have two positions, or does it unscrew all the way out? I ask because at the moment it runs with the switch in the choke position, and cuts out in the 'start' position (and won't start). I wonder if at some point the valve has been turned 180 degrees which would cause this to happen, but I don't want to ruin the carb if this isn't the case (by turning it 180 degrees back). It'd be easy to do this (by accident or design)... If I keep turning the valve clockwise, should it eventually fully seat, or does it turn indefinitely?
  8. The parent company is 'Emak'. Dynamac, Olympyk, Efco, Oleo-Mac are variously used depending on where in the world you are (and maybe pro vs domestic?). Efco seems most common here, whereas mainland Europe gets Oleo-Mac. USA seems to get both, probably depending on internal region. For my money Oleo-Mac saws are more esthetically pleasing than Efco...
  9. I've worked on and used quite a few Efco/Oleo saws. Mostly 156/956 or 165/965s. I have one on the bench at the moment (Efco 156), one in the parts bin and one just sold. They're superb to work on, and personally I find them to be excellent firewood saws. Build quality is great. Spares can be had easily enough, albeit not as easily as Stihl(?!?)/Husq. The cheaper, more plasticky ones have an excellent reputation and (I think I'm correct here at least) don't use a clam-shell design. The 152/952 in particular is supposed to be a bargain. That's all I have! Gardenkit, if you become a dealer, I guess spares will be even easier to track down!!
  10. "Blow it out your Aspen!"
  11. Wonder that the actual cc is. It looks like the standard issue 52cc fake Stihl/Echo etc as featured on health and safety warning videos. They all seem to that that black blanking cap above the petrol cap...
  12. Doh! 'World of Mowers' says Captain Google. As you were...
  13. Anybody know of anywhere to get spares for Tanaka stuff? Specifically hedge trimmers? Ta!
  14. Pro Performance PRO42CCCSA. I reckon.
  15. In those colours, it's gotta be a 'Pro Performance' (B&Q own-brand), surely. Lord knows who makes them!
  16. No sale then?
  17. Is 16" too big for a 'toolless' chain tensioner? I haven't used one before, and I'm slightly dubious. I'm assuming that the 'toolless' fastening isn't as robust as regular bar nuts etc. At the moment it has a 13" bar...
  18. Oh balls! Was only there the other week; have to find another Aspen dealer now...
  19. Place in derby said they sold me their last can a few days ago. Said its a great product but they won't pay £60 delivery for the quantities they can sell. Shame. For me too since it's handy for me!
  20. Is it right that rapeseed goes solid in the tank after a while? I'd like to use it but I'm not a professional user and my saws can go unused for a few weeks at a time...
  21. Might need an aftermarket 046 cylinder shortly. I know Meteor make one, but where might I source one? Ebay says YES, but only from the US. Any EU options? Thanks!
  22. Thanks Rich!
  23. 262Xp revs higher held on either side than upright. Crank seals? Anything else it could be? As usual, any help gratefully received!!
  24. Problem with 254s (and the reason they are probably crashing in price on the bay) is replacement pistons. Can't get decent after market and the husky ones are crazy money. Left field suggestion if you love a 254xp is an Efco 156/oleo Mac 956. Superb build and very similar saw (56cc). I love mine. cheekily similar to the 254 and 262 in design.
  25. I think he's the chap that went through a stage of buying EVERY 028 advertised on Ebay (he bought one from me) and then sticking them straight back on there for £225-£275 ish. I'm not sure his plan to dominate global supplies of Stihl 028s was successful...
