  5. great piece
  6. sure you dotn want to just post it up to scotland? id take some for caving
  7. i think stihl stopped using Sugi to make their bars a while back, which would explain the drop in the quality of their carving bars
  8. if you going to go for rough-justice, you just need to be smart about it.
  9. best of teh year as far as im concerned Si
  10. I havent ever bothered with a ripping chain. Have considered it for logn planking-cuts but for what you are describing, i dont see any need for it. All it would do is speed up the long end-grain cuts
  11. well done, justice is what you make it. next time, try to find a way to get teh driver too. ideally manage to run him over with his own car. scum, deserve to be crippled
  12. like that
  13. I got one of those burrs when i was over there so i might have a go at turning it into an eye tool as well. 2 tools in 1, gotta be a good plan
  14. that your carrbridge plan? Im trying to finalize my idea for a main piece... maybe a pair of lions
  15. I buy my chainsaw bars and chains etc from RobD (superb service) and when i have bought a couple of bars in the past (within a large order of 'stuff') he gave me some Sugi Hara gloves. they are nice and thin and have padding on the palm, inisde of fingers etc which really reduces teh vibrations. I used to use chainsaw gloves for carving but i could never figure why, i mean there is only clogging material on the back of the left hand and that seems irrelevant in that context). Now I just use these Sugi gloves as they are comfy and do seem to reduce the vibes. Might be too thin for winter use though
  16. I tend to stick with a bowl gouge right from the start as i dont like how a roughing gouge sometimes catches and scares the bejeezus out of me might take a wee while longer but im far more relaxed and to me, thats more important than speed
  17. lovely as always Tommy
  18. nice work
  19. as steve says, could you video it for us?
  20. oh..right....yes, i was talking about the squirrel ...sure
  21. I have a risk assessment similar to Micks. it all depends on your assessment though ( its a risk assessment, you have to assess the risks). some shows its much closer than others
