  7. the whitebeam may benefit from a light crown reduction say 1m - this will help reduce the chance of it failing in the next wind
  8. If it was straight and now its leaning - its moved - it could go at the root plate or if the roots have mostly rotted, the trunk fails at ground level.

  13. you are confusing formative pruning with thinning - crown thinning is removing a balanced proportion of the crown to allow more light through the canopy and reduce the chance of windthrow. the other time you will see the term thinning is in a forestry / woodland situation where whole trees are felled to promote the growth of the remaining ones

  17. when straight felling a tree other tree surgeon have quoted for for stripping out first. I go through a check list in my head 2 -3 times and if im confident every time I will do it. If im iffy on something - I wont.
  18. I was talking to a farmer and his dog ate something in it and was taken ill - vet diagnosed molybdenum poisoning - evil stuff
