  1. A physical injury is easy for people to see and make allowance for - if your arm is in a sling people can see you're not operating at 100% and understand why. Similar for the person affected - it's broken but on the mend, 8 weeks time it'll be fine again. And it's not seen as a "weakness" but as an injury. Emotional turmoil is another game altogether. You can't always see it coming, you can't necessarily see a physical manifestation, you don't know how long it'll last and you may not know how to fix it. But just like a broken arm, it's potentially just around the next corner for any one of us. It takes real strength of character to talk about it and confront it. Anyone who doesn't understand the issues is simply demonstrating their ignorance.
  2. Yup! Either a wind-up or the classic "I'd do it myself, but....." Type of time wasting Richard Cranium that's best spotted early and avoided like Ebola!
  3. This might be a bit of a wild card, but I know a chap who got the VAT back on a hot tub with a Dr's letter stating that it was necessary for treating a bad back. So to take that a step further, could it not be argued that a health / fitness / spa membership could be a necessary measure to ease aching bones at the end of a hard week in the trees? If the accountant is happy?????
  4. Ha, ha Paul / Jon!:thumb up: Just burning the broken furniture from last nights dancing and fighting ! Now THIS is a local custom: Archaeologists reveal Cornish spinsters were using witch pits as recently as the 1970s and claim practice is still alive today after discovering scores lined with swan feathers and eggs* | Daily Mail Online (Apol's Daily Mail link, I actually read a piece in the Times earlier but couldn't find a link to it! - They is bloody weird down West!:sheep:
  5. Steak baguette, chips & a pint of Tribute ale!! Beauty!!
  6. We're in the Rod & Line at Tideford Paul, it was where you stopped for a pasty, cracking pub!
  7. Have a look here Buck: https://www.gov.uk/domestic-renewable-heat-incentive see if that's any good as a first point of call.
  8. Any chance of a PM with pellet manufacturers details Marcus? I've used Mole Valley for a couple of years, best price & no problem with pellets, they in source from an outfit in N Wales.
  9. I like the look, the simplicity and versatility of these rings. New Years resolution - buy some! A perennial problem, the route from inventor to end user and in between all the middle men looking for a markup. Direct sales surely a good option??
  10. Jamaica Inn (East Cornwall hunt) Persisting with rain but still a fair turn out!
  11. Was busy in the Jamaica Inn at lunchtime today Paul! You'd have liked it! PS, bring your sister next time you go walkabout, she got the looks, you got the Silky!
  12. Congrats, smart move picking a key date for a key date, less to try and remember in the future! When I first glimpsed the thread, I thought it said you'd got finance! I guess you'll need it now!!
  13. I think the nose is a bit bigger than mine, but otherwise, not far off!
  14. It'll come cold soon enough Jon, you'll regret giving away one of your premium Ash logs to Northern boy then!
  15. 50% ish agree TCD. It is beyond madness. A madness of gluttony and consumerism that seems to intensify year on year. The "Black Friday" scenes of chaos, greed and selfishness are about as far from what the season ought to represent as it is possible for western society demonstrate. I have come to dread the whole thing and the apparent societal pressures that come with it, I am determined that next year things will be different. I want to look forward to Christmas not dread it. I'm not going to opt out though, I'm going to simplify, condense and reduce. Try and get back to (what I think) the essence of Christmas should be - quite honestly, sitting in the woods with basic shelter, warmth and company and having the clarity to really appreciate the gifts of life are pretty close to my idea of what Christmas could be. This madness has to be put into perspective!
  16. Fella, if you do end up looking overseas or down under (and what a sad reflection on UK workforce that would be) there's one important point to remember: What's the difference between an Aussie/Kiwi and a 747 engine? The 747 engine stops whining when it lands at Heathrow!!!!
  17. I can see it happening more and more in the future..... Whats Yellow & sleeps 5.......? Cormac road gang van!
  18. In Cornwall, Cornwall council have 'outsourced' some of their traditional roles to Cormac - a PLC. A PLC that is 100% share owned by.......... Cornwall council! So Cormac - and all the original staff and equipment that transferred from Cornwall council to Cormac have a fixed contract for works for Cornwall council but since Cormac is a PLC it is now able to tender for other private works. A council that hasn't done something like this is not allowed to tender for private work since it is a state funded entity and it would present an unfair advantage. There's quite a lot of tech / legal background to the transfer process (bit dull for here) but watch out Nottingham, Cormac are looking to partner with your council!
  19. Yes please! I'll send over email address by PM, not sure which category I fit in or if it's a combo! Sharing the knowledge is appreciated, subject to a decision, I'm probably just a small push from embarking on a similar route that you're well into so it is much appreciated!
