  1. Did you Northern boys miss my really poor attempt at humour.....?
  2. What?? that's worthy of at least 42% of a rise! I bet her hair smells lovely! You never met a Camborne girl? Bloody ropey at best! You're not back on full strength yet!!
  3. mmmmmm, maybe worth 42% of a rise, depends how "special!" These "so called" special advisors are, I suspect, zero hours, self employed consultant style posts (all very tax efficient no doubt.) Why are these positions not filled by the civil service? That's one of the things they are meant to be there for isn't it? Continuity, impartiality, integrity etc....
  4. "Contain" - That might not be the best way to think of it. All things being equal, and given unrestricted rooting area, might it be better to think in terms of, the rooting area will only expand so far as is necessary to support and nourish the tree. As such, perhaps a pollarded tree, with less wind sail effect, might require less rooting area? So rather than "containing" roots, perhaps there is less requirement for them to spread laterally? Just thinking out loud....
  5. Good thread! Seeing the whole picture and hearing of the positives & negatives of how other agents / organisations support (or otherwise) your endeavour to get back on track will (sadly) be useful for some of us in the future. Have a good Christmas and hopefully start the New Year afresh!
  6. Fair one Mr eggs! I was a bit uncomfortable with the wisdom of the "show us your guns" thread to be fair. I'm not sure showing pics of what's in the cabinet is in the spirit of the legislation. Discretion being the better part of security an all that....
  7. Alright Jon, I know what you mean fella, I'm only on the thread because I don't want to watch Strickly!
  8. No Jon, Mrs J is, so it's on the telly, but I'm not watching it......
  9. It's not madness or a deficiency in the licensing protocol. It simply demonstrates that you don't fully understand the protocols or that Mrs Eggs isn't complying with them. No offence intended, and I don't mean to cast any opinion on the reasons why you might not be eligible. If you're not, you're not. That's a black & white situation. To suggest that having a shotgun in the house makes an ass of the legislation is disingenuous. Mrs J doesn't hold a SC, neither does she have access or knowledge of how to gain access to mine. If she applied in her own right she would, probably, be granted SC or FAC. She hasn't, but there are firearms in the house. She can't access them because that's a condition of my certificates. If you can access Mrs Eggs shotgun(s), then Mrs Eggs is failing in her responsibility as a SC holder. You present a "real world" but somewhat biased / myopic opinion of the legislation if you think it's inadequate based upon the circumstances you present. No offence intended Mr Eggs, just don't agree with the premise of your argument that the legislation is madness.
  10. Agreed! (edit - for existing trees!) But perhaps also one of the easiest aspects of a stretched LA budget to "put off 'til next year", then again the next year. Then the person that made the decision moves job and nobody remembers that it was only a temporary in year saving. Then it's a case of having to re-submit funding bids and justifications just to get back the money that was offered up in previous years - competing against other bids with perhaps more direct public interest - toilets, social care, road maintenance. Picture below was a privately owned (fee paying school) scenario but it was only when asked to look at RPA's for a potential new build classroom that I enquired when the last safety inspection had been done. Blank faces all round! Perhaps it's just too easy to put it off for another day, then it all gets too difficult.... Like a leylandii hedge!
  11. Have you still got that machine? I've got a couple of customers that might be keen on the product.
  12. Brilliant! I'd offer the suggestion that the situation in GB needs to be different for each of the constituent parts in order that the dominant part maintains its superiority over the subordinate parts thus maintaining the subjection of the dominion!
  13. Thanks for that! Especially the piece about Avant - I just did a new thread to try and get some views before purchase. I think if you are determined to look hard enough for an exemption you might just find one but I'm not so sure it'll be so helpful if the old preverbal hits the aircon!
  14. Was it something on Jon's tree girls winch thread, couldn't see anything offensive??
  15. Purchased with a new LOLER ticket ED? Which dealer if you don't mind saying...
  16. What's the general opinion or consensus from owners / users? If it's a hydraulic tool carrier possibly not, but what about if you put forks / bucket / grab on it, or if you call it a telehandler?
  17. 👍🏻 Kind of drives a wagon & horses through any kind of credibility aspiration when trying to justify to developing nations why they should try and limit carbon out put. Solar PV storage of excess is what I'd like to see developed. Think it was "Click" that featured an experimental project where elec cars are plugged into grid and the combined battery capacity of many cars was used as a power bank. Clever, collective cooperation and innovative I thought!
  18. Nothing shameless about that plug! Someone is in need, you've got them, that's good service!!
  19. I think fracking may just be the next poll tax riot. Of course they'll be the career protesters, the anarchists, the dossers, the druggies, the hippies, the posh socialists (or should that be socialites?), but I think there may well be a fair chunk of general public too - even staunch Tories - since there's no inducement or back hander for them to be bought off with. Even if I did support fracking I just can't reconcile Paris and fracking? For the time being, we have neither badger cull nor fracking in Kernow, if we did, I'd be on the front line of the protest for either.
