  1. Slow first half, dynamite second half! Good game yesterday!
  2. That is pure big kit porn! Good to see the removal being taken so seriously and professionally completed. Notwithstanding the loss of the trees, it's good to see the measures to prevent spreading the infection.
  3. I remember something like that too, a bit more recent I think.
  4. Can you see the source / credit for the document on the original? I tried blowing it up large but can't fully make it out. Looks something like "US consumer product safety report on chainsaw related accidents 1989" from what I can make out. Does the data include domestic & professional users? (is there likely to be a difference between the 2?) Not asking, just thinking out loud.... Left hand and leg appear to be the most frequent impact areas. Food for thought....
  5. It all becomes clear! Bet he has a monster truck wheel mounted splitter cone too.....
  6. Ed (and all learned friends!), what would be your take on "above natural ground level" where a tree (as is very common in Cornwall) grows from the top of a Cornish hedge (earth & stone) which may itself be greater than 1.5m above surrounding ground level? I have been taking measurements of DBH from the point where the tree grows from the top of the hedge which seems sensible but it's not "natural ground level." When recording tree height, that is from ground level but with supporting comment to say the base of the tree is 1/1.5m above ground level since it sits atop a hedge. Any thoughts??
  7. Is everybody getting out of bed on the wrong side this morning?? Or is there really a secretive but all powerful illuminati of wood pile re-arrangers out there? "....Holy-woodpiles-Robin, the wildlife police have morphed with the sense of humour failure clones and the log pile rearrangers to form a mutant bat headed, hard wood log pile death squad...."
  8. You might have dropped a bit of a "ball" if this is all being discussed after the contract work has been done. One of the first questions I ask for site clearance is - "is it CIS and what are the payment terms?" If it is CIS (and it generally should be), you will have to register as "an employer" so that you can deduct CIS from your lads/lasses gross, and an "employee" so that the main contractor can deduct from yours, and your lads/lasses will have to register as "employees" of yours. A royal PITA! Although registering is free and, in itself quite straight forward, the tricky bit and by goodness you'll need time & patience in trying to get through to HMRC to register! You'll need to enjoy listening to endless "press 1 for ineffective civil servant on tea break, press 2 for a government department unable to answer the phone, press 3 for something completely unrelated, press 4 to hear these options again.... etc, etc, etc.....
  9. "....Whilst rearranging her woodpile....." Who does that?? How does anyone get to a stage in their life when they have so little else to do that they find themselves rearranging the wood pile?? It terrifies me to think that might ever be in the future for me..... :scared1:
  10. Have a look at this fella: https://www.gov.uk/what-is-the-construction-industry-scheme Might give you some pointers...
  11. Not at all! It's the way of things 👍🏻
  12. Without wishing to make any statement or declaration for or against either side of this evenings tête-à-tête (but as someone that has received a lifetime infraction for a minor swear word) the pictionary option is cracking me up!
  13. First run out for stove top cooking yesterday! Brisket of beef in red wine. Very happy with the results and the mouth watering aromas during the cooking time. Even happier not to have to pay for the electric to cook it too! It's gonna take a while to realise a profit on the leccy savings though, I had to get into a redundant room in the South wing (haven't been in there in 10 years!), open up a covered fireplace, instal a flat top stove and line the chimney. Spose I'll have to skim and decorate the room now she's seen it too....
  14. This'll be worth a watch tomorrow @ 21:00: http://www.channel4.com/info/press/news/channel-4-investigation-uncovers-the-british-women-supporting-isis Of course there'll be some that disregard it as media fuelled BS regardless of its content.
  15. They want "some left for firewood", but not sure they will want to split & stack it. I think you'll still be delivering while the cord sits and decomposes.
  16. Is this turning into a classic quote / epic over exaggerating thread?? That ^ was chucleworthy!! 👍🏻👍🏻
  17. Doesn't the LA have the option of implementing the planting and placing a charge? That's what I thought. Trouble is, I suppose it'd have to be pretty watertight to get past the legal department and considered to be 'worth' the effort / expense and I'm not convinced it would fly in anything but the most favourable (for LA) circumstance.
  18. Not last time, couldn't reconcile badger cull, ring fenced foreign aid budget and the unfortunate situation that SE Cornwall Tory MP is an imbecile and an embarrassment. Guess again..... 😆
  19. 👍🏻 You take out relevant to what you put in. Makes absolute sense.
  20. One of them? What, a Tory voter?? How could you know that???
  21. I hoped I'd get away with it, but always thought some sharp eyed detail junky would spot it! It's an example of my social conscience and general altruistic nature.... (But don't tell anyone!) Poor public sector fire brigade haven't had a pay rise for ages and since they get so much paid time off I like to give them a bit on the side to top up their generous salary and gold plated pension. Couldn't give him a bigger chipper otherwise he'd have finished too soon, gone to his 3rd or 4th job and deprived our Somali doctor and Lithuanian swede puller of their main income. I've swapped the mini chipper for a goat for Monday, that'll put the brakes on him!!
