  1. Is there any business sector out there that is not needing more skilled workers? How can we still have unemployment in the UK? It's got to be difficult to argue that the work isn't out there for the willing, or is all this news a flawed picture?? The UK’s shortage of homecare workers could increase to over 20,000 by the end of the decade if current trends continue, new research shows. 2. No worries! Good question....! It's not the sort of place where wasters prosper.
  3. Zwartbles lamb shoulder went in the slow cooker @13:00 with garlic, tomatoes, peppers, chillies, courgette, and chick peas. Came out at 19:30 to rest. Served at 20:00 with citrus couscous & garlic pitta bread. A little single malt then bed ready for the work / weather armageddon of next week!
  4. It was meant as a bit of fun.... ! Made me giggle.... (cost of extraction, it's all relative)
  5. I tried really hard not to get sucked in to this one.... You must have tried harder (but I wondered where you were!)
  6. Probably best to start with this...... Fun Antarctica Facts for Kids - Interesting Information about Antarctica and see where you end up.....
  7. Rob, can I ask, what was the reason / rationale for doubling up the front wheels?
  8. Fella, you didn't answer earlier.... Have you been there or met any islanders? Granted, you can form a view on the geography, population, industrial output etc online, but it's not quite enough to form a view really (just my opinion.) Personally, I'd rather like to go back and stay one day. It has that effect as quite a few visitors (from both distant and recent history) have discovered. It's not really enough to consider those islands, in isolation, and noted that HK was a fundamentally different (lease) arrangement, it's not just the FIs that were at stake in '82 but also Gibraltar, Cyprus, Diego Garcio, Ascention Islands, South Georgia. So it was a slightly bigger game than just the FIs.
  9. Nothing stranger than human nature Sean. It's a fair point you make. Average 2-3k UK road fatalities per year for past 10 years. Hasn't stopped me driving.
  10. I was prepared to take at face value your declaration of understanding of broad strategic policy, the last post kinda takes it away though. I'm left thinking your apparent hatred of the person must be clouding your logic. No worries, it's nothing a long night on the beer couldn't fix!!
  11. Well, maybe it's just not coming across that way, or maybe my crypto is not sync'd with yours? You may think she lied (I'm assuming we're focussing on the Belgrano point) but my perspective would be that it was a necessary, logical and righteous act in the context of the conflict to authorise the sinking. How the facts were relayed to the British public is a consequence of being shackled by liberal criticism and frontline media in conflict areas. You may view it in contemptuous terms, I salute the single minded determination to achieve the political objective through military means. That's leadership. I was very fortunate to have met, had a long chat and dinner with Sir Bernard Ingham in 2005. I can take from that a good deal more insight and understanding of the person Margaret Thatcher than would ever be available from a portion of the media which seeks to demonise her at any cost. I was also in the FIs '83 and on several later occasions. Have you met any FI residents and do you think they'd share your view?
  12. You display a total ignorance of the strategic aim, the tactical significance and the moral obligation of the Falklands campaign. In so doing you also seem hell bent on rubbishing the determination, grit and resolve of those charged with reclaiming the Islands and ignoring the rights of the residents of those islands who sought protection from an invading dictatorship state. For someone who claims to despise the media so much you also seem keen enough to utilise the very same media slurs ("milk snatcher") and misinformation you claim to be so passionately opposed to. Does this indicate an inconsistency in your drivel or does it simply demonstrate your willingness to suckle at the teat of the socialist media whilst discarding anything that isn't published by the red press? There is some merit in the comparison of the political will that existed in '82 and was applied to the FI campaign as related to the IS scenario of today. Wether ARA Belgrano was heading towards or away from the exclusion zone in '82 is irrelevant. It was a significant military asset with the capability to effect damage in the vicinity of a conflict. What do you think they were there for - whale watching? It's that kind of single minded determination that is needed to contain, control and eliminate the global influence of IS and all it's constituent parts. Those that don't have the stomach for it can curl up in the corner and contemplate the consequences of submission to their new faith whilst someone else fixes the problem.
  13. Your closing sentence intrigues me since I'm not sure I can determine what your interest actually is? Do you want to develop or conserve, or develop with a conscience for conservation or just conserve? Does your development potential offer the opportunity to improve the species / age range of trees by removal of that which might currently be considered unremarkable? Also, it's worth a thought that the person who wrote your report, whose motives you're potentially unclear of, could be reading this..., Interesting stuff and great detail, please keep it coming 👍🏻
  14. Have you had a conversation with the person that did the survey? They are probably best placed to understand your questions and provide a view in the context of the area / development proposal. Unless you can't / don't want to, that'd be the best place to start I'd say.....
  15. Must have! I got a link on Facebook at the weekend which took me to it. DhoooooH! Behind the curve again!!
  16. I happened across this series of learning videos at the VETREE webpage at the weekend: Vetree - Veteran Tree Network Working my way through them steadily!
  17. That's odd! I clicked the link which took me straight to the Trees & Risk program, then saw your message about the mix of programs David, clicked the link again and was presented with a huge menu of programs! That's going to take a bit more time to listen to! I wonder if I can fathom out a download to iPod thingy for the car.....
  18. Seriously? Am I the only one thinking this has all the ingredients of a wind up? If it's not, Bird, do you think you're adequately prepared for this??
