  1. Same for me! They obviously haven't seen her driving - frightens me to death! It's all done on algorithms and metrics based on data analysed by insurance actuaries. Data input = risk assessment = policy premium matched to probability of a claim.
  2. There's merit in asking the question. When I was employed there were times when travel in own car was the most practical, convenient and cost effective means of getting from A to B for meetings/courses etc. However, you had to prove business use insurance (at own expense) in order to claim travel expenses and any traffic offences were down to the driver (not unreasonable). The alternative of course was over priced, inconvenient and time consuming trains. The travelling expenses didn't match the personal cost nor the time saved in comparison to train travel so only took own car if it suited personally. Let the train take the strain!
  3. Great vid! Text was in some sort of Johnny Foreigner lingo though? Did it say "college boy's first day on the job?"
  4. Too far away and too pricey whilst time is too precious..... I sent an expression of interest to attend Yew seminar on Saturday but didn't hear back and have run out of time to organise travel / hotel / permission for absence etc, etc.. http://www.weloveyew.org/weloveyew_seminar_2016.pdf
  5. We have to pay by DD, the boss decreases it! I'm so brave I keep threatening to cancel the DD but I'm afraid to access the joint account!
  6. There a wealth of info on youtube (in between the career anarchists and rich socialist protestors types) search for bbc licensing and you'll be inundated! You can have a TV You don't need a licence You need a licence if you watch live broadcast TV As a single man - on the balance of probability - I never had a licence. The chances of the muppets calling while I was watching - asleep on the sofa between 02:30 - 05:00 AM having returned from the pub was so slim as to not be worthwhile. Married now and subjected to more reasonable hours and she insists - it really rankles me though.
  7. Ted, I think it was the cartoons that caught her attention! Bedouin, too young for phones - for now! Gary, they don't come in the woods with me any more, they just leave me looking at decayed stumps.... (pic) Iveco, she only wanted it because I had it! Wick, it's not bunny, it was for 3 years, then it was named. Heaven forbid we forget! Ty, the entire house is covered in glitter and stars! I go to work with them on my face, I have a shower and come out of my hair! Sounds like you know the scenario?
  8. That sounds a really good way of testing the waters... Security in mind but with the opportunity to stretch if the need arises!
  9. Can't see them on the listing Paul, who is it? Search area only goes out to 100KM
  10. Have a look here: https://www.gov.uk/topic/business-tax/construction-industry-scheme
  11. Had a quick look but will watch in full later. I liked the references to moon phases, old school knowledge!
  12. Hi Paul, all well thanks!! I wasn't sure if I was missing something obvious in physiological issues and hoping someone would be along to point it out if I was! It's a tricky one, on the one hand we have the standard which says quite clearly what is recommended, then balancing that with attempting to meet the standard whilst satisfying the customers requirements and with an eye on what might be best compromise to satisfy all the demands. I think I probably could be satisfied with pollarding the vertical stems if that was the option accepted by the owner?
  13. Setting aside the relative pro's & cons of the pollard or fell / replace options, are we tying ourselves up in knots over the pollard issue? Granted, 3998 refers to a tree within a certain size range for original pollard, but, I just looked back at the recent pollard thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/95131-pollards-they-out-vogue-uk.html and looking at some of the fine examples there, it's left me wondering, can the 3998 size range be applied to individual vertical stems from an existing single main stem? Is there a reason why this might not be appropriate other than the industry self flagellation over "topping?"
  14. Some very good tips above. Don't forget to check if it's CIS and also confirm invoice to payment terms too - will save hassle/distress/disappointment after the event.
  15. Maybe BECAUSE everything is more expensive, everything is more expensive? It's a bit "economics trippy", but since all the living and trading costs are higher for UK outlets, they have to charge more to pay for their running, living, treat costs?? Just a thought? Or maybe we really are paying too much. So much for a European common market place....
  16. Tax deductible business trip to Germany? If you happen to take family / mates and stop off at Oktoberfest, so be it!
  17. Not sure if the link will work: <div id="fb-root"></div><script>(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script><div class="fb-video" data-allowfullscreen="1" data-href="/danny.bachmann.5/videos/vb.100002153888986/937518332996621/?type=3"><div class="fb-xfbml-parse-ignore"><blockquote cite=" "><a href=" "></a><p></p>Posted by <a href="#" role="button">Danny Bachmann</a> on Sunday, January 17, 2016</blockquote></div></div>
  18. I had a wander down the bottom garden just by chance this afternoon. Haven't been down there much recently. Septic tank backed up and knee deep in unpleasantness! I'd rather have spent my afternoon shovelling snow.......!
  19. How's life treating you now fella? Happier now you've left the council?? Hope it's going well. I'm envying your weather at the moment and thinking of happy days on the Coromandel! !
  20. Ask anybody outside of the arb trade what the AA is and they'll think your car has broken down... Or that you're after a beer!
  21. Makes the thread about shoddy work in CA look positively trivial in comparison! Questions over qualifications of man who recommended giant WA jarrah be cut down
