  1. Hi Reg Thanks for posting the video, enjoyable watch. I can relate to your points through an experience with topping out a lombardi poplar, although it wasn't dead the wind effect (slight breeze) on the top was the same and I learnt very quickly to get that wedge in asap! Cheers James
  2. Well they got it on the ground. I agree as above re: PPE and cuts I think with better rope management, better planning of cuts and lowering and at times a tag line the job would have gone a lot smoother. Wonder if it was left like that
  3. Sorry Jessy not following? The job spec is a reduction (on a poplar yes i know ) that what the clients wants.
  4. Blimey, ya learn something every day with Arbtalk Thanks guys, will look it up
  5. Liquidambar styraciflua 'Fastigiata' ?
  6. Well theres a slightly cleaner example of the same trailer on ebay at £1000, other twin axil versions are around 1200 - 2200. I would say clean it up a little and try it for £995? At the end of the day though its only worth what someone will pay for it.
  7. Hi all, Can anyone confirm if this this Populus balsamifera? it certainly looks like it to me but could do with confirmation / second opinion? Sorry about the whole tree pic, the trees are the one covered in ivy and the bare bark tree next to it - and yes there is a silver birch in between Thanks James
  8. Fantastic show Justin, and I would like to echo the thanks to Kingswood, Stein and all who made the Help the Hero's tree climbing a great experience Was great to meet Ted / ELG in person and try out the harness - another purchase coming up Was good to pick up some bits and bobs and shiney things too Here, hopefully, is a pic of our Tom on his second go on the tree Thanks to Justin for bringing those kids harnesses, there is already plans for more climbing this weekend
  9. I miss those programs being on telly, and the "did ya like 'that" when it fell over
  10. To my understanding its 6 months for climbing kit and 12 for lowering kit. And yes I'd ask why the need for a loler examination if they are brand new? Of course we should all check on a personal level for the correct operation of new biners and all kit, but I can't see why it needs a 6 monthly independent exam from new?
  11. I finally got to try this system today on the Help the Hero's tree at the show, fantastic and simple, puts the position of the rope tail in the correct place, for me being tall, and a lot easier. Picked up a stein cut away as the back prussik link and will try it myself this week :-)
  12. Looking forward to meeting you and trying the ELH out in person
  13. Excellent
  14. Yes please that would be great Not even sure if he is going to like it but he has the enthusiasm for it at the moment I will PM you my mobile number
  15. Turned and reduced the size of the pic for you
  16. Nicely done, very fluid. What cam do you use? J
  17. Yayy, after purchasing a km90 yesterday at Jonesies I am looking at one of those Will be there on the Saturday this year, bringing the other halfs 10 yr old for a great day out. Justin - I mentioned to Gaz yesterday about if you guys could bring along some childrens climbing harnesses? Id like to get the kid into one but want to try it on him before purchasing... any chance you could pack a few for sale? Will save some more pennies up for a possible Protos purchase as well James
  18. All playground bark should be to BS 4790 (ignition resistance) and BS EN 1177 : 1998 (an Impact Aborbing Playground Surfacing test), although there is nothing I can find which should specify how clean it should be chemically / environmentally etc. I would contact the school and dig further into who supplied the bark and if its to standard.
  19. Nice work Ric... Do you know a fellow by the name of dexter crowson per chance? Keep up the good work. J
  20. Ya get what you pay for... It looks similar to the AMA top handle - search for threads on here - which I have and does me fine so far. You may be better off saving and getting the new stihl 150T - depends what material you intend on using it for. Personally I going for the 150T next as I believe it will suit the majority of my work and i'll keep the ama in reserve.
  21. Looks fine to me Swinny Both PMH and CMS could do with a 'Cover Photo' which is the top background picture Swinny - you cant friends request from a 'page' to a 'profile' (single person), you can only become friends if you both have personal profiles. Pages can like pages though... Mines below, I like other peoples pages from my personal profile which is James Sharp - both liked from me
  22. Knowing the beeb post production its probably not on for another 2 months!
  23. Looks a good find Captain, may I ask - how much room is behind the seats in it? I am looking at a similar set up for a ranger or hilux but require room for the kid at the weekend! Ali box all the way and personally i am going to have plastic sign written boards made for the box sign writing so its brighter and sharper image (if that makes sense) Cheers James
  24. Thats pretty bad luck, I broke a leaf spring on my trusty trailer last week, luckily it was over the farm empty and not with soil or brash in! New set ordered yesterday, fitted tonight in 2 hours - both sides with new bolts. Makes you think what if a lot more, more frequent inspections required i think.
  25. Hi Tony, Since the models are all so different I usually find an exploded parts diagram is helpful when trying to gain access to certain mechanisms. Here is a link to the 488S Handbook and on page 45 is the diagram. http://www.hayter.co.uk/handbook_files/488141%20(A).pdf Hope that helps James
