  1. Ok. Going on the other thread you have started. I know its not stihl ones but the Kawasaki strimmers can give all sorts of funny running problems when the clutch goes. It may not be the problem but my advice would be to sort the clutch out and then try again. Work one issue first then go to the next.
  2. And the crystal ball tells me you are located......... Sorry dry sense of humour today,
  3. Nah I didn't either. But I guess a nice letter asking if you could hold onto the refund plus 30% until then? Be interested to see the new one.
  4. Just been reading on petzl site. They are bringing out a revised one in January 2014. Anyone in the know? So for those that havnt returned it wounder if there is any chance of and exchange for the new one?
  5. What need a ticket to us stuff like this??? Gallup 360 20L Glyphosate Weedkiller 360 g/l, best on the market! | eBay And the many other agri spec ones on ebay. Guess it must be like top handled saws then. Always confused me how you need this and that to buy this that yet somehow ebay always get round it.
  6. Of course you can. Same as can I use a chainsaw without a ticket. But I couldn't do it commercially....
  7. Where do you find that lot? No naming and shaming tho. Suspect the pic may be gone soon. Maybe they hadn't finished cutting yet?
  8. Yeah can do. Most of the time the clutch parts are ok. I have only ever replaced one whole clutch because it was gone. Some wd and a wire brush is good. Just be carefull of the outer edge that is the touching edge of the clutch parts that makes contact with the drum. A bit of fine emery on it and don't go mad. For 50p a spring can't go wrong.
  9. Spot on. Ish But they can also break. Many a time have I and probably others have removed a clutch and a spring is in two pieces. But normally the machine in question has been run on and the broken part of the spring has made its was behind the clutch and taken Grand Canyon gouges out of the casing behind.
  10. Sorry typo. The clutch boss not carb. Obviously nothing to do with carb It's the space between the clutch "outer parts" that give away if any of the springs are gone. The gaps will be different. It's one tell tale sign, its not always that easy to spot. But one thing to look for. It's also easier and better to just change them anyway. And not your clutch but what one looks like. Thought I would throw a pic out there.
  11. Then I wold look at clutch. Clean it up. If you know what to look for sometimes they show, a clutch part may out a little by looking at the space between them on the carb. Sometimes it can't be seen. Is the drum also ok?
  12. Is the cable loose when the machine is on tickover. I'm thinking the controls have moved forward a bit tightening up the cable. Remove the throttle cable from carb and start it up. Will let you know if the cable is at fault as the throttle will be down to as low as it can without the cable influencing the throttle lever. Basically remove the cable from the carb and see if it makes any difference. If it doesn't then the screw should be with the throttle lever on the carb. Easy to spot.
  13. That looks like it needs to be in a skip for some. For me that looks worth restoring. Do you make any chippers with the sure that opens sideways for access any more? If not why not? If so what ones? Where is the factory again? Just so I know where to look at going for the next factory tour?
  14. My 5yr old boy trying on my arb boots for size. Think he still got some growing to do. And get then on the right feet
  15.:lol: Guess its dig at Jon week then???
  16. It's used for damp proofing. Use for cutting slots along a wall either through the mortar or brick/blocks, then the damp proof is then inserted into the slots. So yeah it should be a tct chain. If its not then its been changed at some point. Its a bit like the chainsaw that used for cutting through walls.

At best it was 100 yards visibility. Even the warship HMS TYNE struggled with all there gear to complete the search patterns. And they have a LOT more syfisticated gear than us. The heli packed it in as low cloud meant they couldn't see anything. The only break we got was daybreak. But even then it was some 3 hours after. The bloke was noted missing at one, by the time they searched the ferry we got the call at 2, so the first hour maybe more was lost. The tide was strong and would carry anything in the water towards France and the west. It was really a no hope case from the start. Only thing we can do is condolences to the family and try our best. Sadly in many cases this isn't enough and some people just remain lost at sea. Doesn't always end that way, and thankfully there are more cases where the RNLI and coastguard are successfull in saving lives at sea.
  18. Took spuds advice and used google. Nylon is a hygroscopic material and if the line is stored in dry conditions, e.g. in a shed or a warehouse it can loose its moisture and therefore its flexibility, it can become stiff, brittle and break easily. Storing it for a couple of days in a closed bag with some added water at room temperature or higher will bring the line back closer to the original, more flexible condition and should significantly reduce breakage due to brittleness.
  19. Urm. Not against aspen mate. Aspen has we know is king and should always be bowed down to. And if king aspen wishes his hand should be kissed.
  20. There certainly is. Will look into it. But just may order that one anyway. Guess if its obsolete it will be worth having on the shelf.
  21. Nope 3 hours tops. If your fit and healthy. Looks like I need to modify a pipe The hardest part is the seal part for tank. Looking at an ms200t fuel pipe. Looks the same length and size for tank. Might just need to extend it a bit. Yeah savour the victory s. but he will turn up at some point. (Yes sounds harsh but that's just the way it is) hey ho on to the next.
  22. Sadly it was no hoax bud. It was just too dark and foggy. We tried, even the heli gave up and went. The warship was the best thing out there as all the gear they carry.

2.07am wake up call today. Man overboard from the ferry pride of kent. Dover’s RNLI Lifeboat ‘City Of London II’ was called out in the early hours of this morning (21st May) following reports that a man had gone overboard from a ferry travelling from Calais. Dover’s volunteer lifeboat crew were assisted in the search by a Royal Navy warship that was in the area and a helicopter was scrambled from RAF Wattisham. The extensive search was carried out in poor visibility, a freshening northerly wind and drizzle. The search was called off and the lifeboat returned to her station at 0600 after almost four hours at sea. Pete Legg, Deputy Launching Authority at Dover RNLI said after the search was called off, it was unlikely that someone could survive in the water for that amount of time at this time of the year.
  24. It is Barrie. Ok. So I now need a oil pipe for a 048av. Anyone got it on a IPL for any other that fits? Oh and a tad grouchy after a 2.07am wake up from RNLI.
  25. Think you may end up with half of arbtalk calling you up..... The phone would never stop  Especially that s.varty bloke, heard all sorts about him.
