  1. I don't think the owner (mr ovendans) is going to pay for the repair to the husky. New piston and barrel £249 new saw on jonsies £277.......... Wounder what will happen.

  4. I was thinking of camping at jonsies this year. The weather kind of failed hat one last year. Maybe I will catch a few more people over there this year. For this interested the saw is a My saw is a wtb group 20" modal: 51220E its a Norhern Tools brand made only for Northen tool One problem is I don't have a tent. May have to borrow one. unless I can dig out the tree hammock. But that means getting up the tree not sure if that is allowed there.
  5. Ok. You can just blow down the pipe with the good old lungs if you can get there. Did you remove the pump or not? As for use in it, I knew someone who used there's without oiling for a couple of years before deciding it was time to fix it, just had to have the chain a little bit slack to start with. He did fill the oil tank up and just let whatever leaked out to on the chain. Use it and if the chain pops off or it gets annoying then climb. See what happens is the answer to that one. The bar may wear a bit but as I said two years this one was running without oil. Any dealer will be able to get them for you. Try the trade directory at the top right of the page. Find one near you. Edit also forgot to ask where abouts you where as someone will know a dealer near you.
  6. Will only work if the pump is turned backwards on these pump. So have to reverse it while blowing or you get nothing past the pump. Just thought I would add this bit.
  7. Looking good there spud. Just a bit intrigued by the scoring that is still present on the left hand side of the port. The right side as almost gone. So the left side must be deep then. By the way, what sieze was it?
  8. Ok listen up and listen up good. You may actually learn something. This forum is the best arb one out there (fact). The amount of help is unbelievable, there have been very helpfull posts given. Some may be a p I steak. But you just brought that on yourself. You asked for help over a saw that would not run. That was all the info you gave. So we are to mind readers and every manufacturer of saws is different, stihl don't have the same stuff as husky, the pot and cylinder and princible of the machine may be the same, but the fuel delivery systems are not. I'm guessing its a cheap Chinese crap saw, this would have been fine if you had said so in the first place, have had people asking questions about them on the forum before, although advice would be given to buy a decent saw you would none the less had a great deal of help from the techs and other users who would have past knowledge with these saws, and you would probably have it running by now. I asked twice for the saw make and model and this wasn't given so the lack of help is your fault. Not ours. Bit like me asking you if you know why my car won't start today......(go on answer that for me) or better still ask silky why his didn't start today. The replies you have had have been also due to another thread you started about using waste oil in saws. I havnt read that thread much as I don't do it as its a bit silly as waste engine oil has a high chance of causing cancer. I think that you asking about a saw makes you in no way an expert either, there are some very good experts on this forum and you way of asking a question with no details whatsoever means that you are just asking for it. Now as been said dont let the door hit you on the behind on the way out.

  11. Ok. You will need to strip it down. There may be a pipe off behind it. So its not sending oil to the groove but to the hole instead. They are relatively easy to dismantle, just a case of doing it systematicly. I would strip it and inspect the pipes and pump. At the end of the day you ar not likely to destroy anything if you do it carefully and thoughtfully. Just work form behind all the time and keep thinking you are only trying to remove the tank.
  12. Yes please get a pic. From memory I can't think what bit you mean. Chances are if its all full of crap then it needs a strip and clean out. You can rotate the pump backwards once out while giving it a blast of cleaner. With the pipe off also blow back down pipe with the tank cap off so you clean the filter out with backwards pressure.
  13. Yep. Might be an idea to search for a light engineering place near you. See if they can do it for you. I wouldn't buy a helicoil kit from ebay. Go to a proper place and get one. Either a tool station or screwfix type place. Spend the little bit extra and get a decent one. One of those tools that may sit in the workshop for ages but means you always have it.
  14. First clean the bar and run it without a bar on and see if oil is coming out the hole. If not empty the tank and wash out with fuel. Then refill and try again. If not then it needs a strip down and the pipes cleaning out. The pumps on these are very prone to failing. I've had a few fail. The pump is easy to remove and need a bolt to fit into the back of the pump and pulls out.

  16. spud. Yes fuel does have a nice tendency to go poof when testing the spark. I do enjoy the old fuel injector testers and holding a piece of rag that's alight over the injector. Warmed up on a very nice cold day before
  17. The helicoil system is actually really easy to do if you get the sizes right. There are loads of videos on YouTube on it.
  18. That's a bit better. So looking at that the cylinder on its own is around £150????? Blimey. Cheers bill. Have sent them an email. I'm sure there are others out there. Will just have a good look while waiting for a reply.

  20. That's it. Nail on head. I remember now. It was the steel verses ally inserts. I'm sure it went that the ally ones would blow out after a short while. Where as the steel ones wouldn't. Sorry just trying to get it out my head. I can breath as I have done it now. :lol: It was in there somewhere.
  21. Ok. So now I'm struggling a little bit to find a new piston for the husky in this country. Not sure I can justify the cost of one from America. Might be the only choice, so anyone know where one is available or who stocks husky parts that can get hold of one?
  22. Maybe that's what the thread wa all about. It's in my mind somewhere about the kits you can get. There was some (ahem) discussion over what ones actually worked. :lol: The helicoil system should work ok I say should as I'm not saying it will or won't, personally I won't do it to a machine I get in as the risk of it coming back to me. Would rather replace with new, but the cost of the new cylinder on a 088 is huge.

  24. What make of chain? Should say it on it. Lift it up and there should be markings on the drive links.
  25. Ok first off you need to re read my name again please. I spend day in day out with broken down gear. And if you are going to ask a question over ANY machine then please tell us the make and model of such machine as we are not mind readers and ever manufacturer is different. So before anyone can give you good guidance you need to give the proper information. But seeing as you don't know much about saw engines I would really advise you to take it to someone who knows. You can really get it wrong and bugger up the saw easily.
