  1. Stihl done it on purpose, it's a game of hide and seek. They hide the screws, you find them. Lol.
  2. they learn the fast and hard way on the lifeboat. soon learn the time and place for jokes, there is no room for antics in rough weather doing a job. luckily there has only been a few so far and they soon get the hint to stop when they get wet, if not they get the boot. simple.
  3. yep. did advise this fact, but what the customer wants the customer gets.
  4. Was suppose to be. But, the initial job was to change the gearbox as the sync mesh had gone and 4th was grinding, but after change and advice that the friction plate was worn but was not being changed, the seal in the slave piston pooped itself, so box off and new one fitted. Just bemused me that the slave is inside the bell housing and around the shaft, just a bad design IMO. Typical ford, can't do anything the easy way. It will be off again in a few months when the friction plate gives out anyway. Anyway been thinking about going back into agri engineering for a while maybe after Xmas.
  5. Depends on model. This was three 8mm bolts. But still have to remove the whole thing first, aswell as the front wheels, both drive shafts, linkage, wires, hoses, mounts, brake calipers. And the partridge in the pear tree......
  6. Been there got the t shirt, Banter often turns into a lot more very easily. Then it's bullying, the odd joke is funny but nine times out of ten the person making that joke or remark sees they gets a laugh or reaction from it and carries on, this will then provoke more actions, attention seeking it's called. If this lad had to go above you to get heard then I would seriously look into how you manage your crew and see who and when the banter goes up a level. Then this person gets a quiet talk away from everyone else about it. Either pack it in or go home. The higher order will not come down on you for it as you are managing your crew in a modern PC way. Plus IMO it never looks good if a client hears everyone taking the mick out of each other on site. And the above goes for this lad aswell as he is part of the crew, like it or lump it, he is there. If he starts it then give him a jolt and stop it. Time and place, no need to go overboard, just a quick talk about the workplace is enough.
  7. Ford transit, front wheel drive over the pit. Some moron at ford decided that it would be a great idea to put the clutch slave cylinder inside the gearbox, meaning complete removal to replace it.......... Still no saws on the bench either....
  8. And those damn bits of leylandi still come from places you didn't think they could....
  9. Ok two points, First, modern mechs are fitters as its more cost effective to just replace than rebuild and easier, Second, modern cars are made for a fitter not a mech, parts are built to just be replaced than fixed. And yes is computer says no then there is nothing wrong lol
  10. yeah yeah im nosey. so what, want to make something of it.... asked a reasonable question and got a resonable answer.
  11. not unless the gasket has gone between the case.
  12. not really. the saw will run lean on an air leak. not smoke.
  13. true. he does, something to do with computer key boards or other. yeah thats fine, but if he enjoys the saws more then why not. ok i can see this turning into me getting a good bashing as its starting to read wrong. my forst question was nothing funny but a serious down to earth question.
  14. although there are other saw repair shops.. can donate your old 200t to me if you like, will give it a good home. a pump piston mod will always not work, depends if this is the issue, but as he has said he is going to buy something else i guess he is not after it being fixed. just looking for something to replace it with. i havnt seen the husky at work but have seen the 201 and the 150, both imo worked great, the 150 does what it says on the tin, its a pruning saw. the 201 is more of a topper but dont compare it to a 200t as it will dissapoint and you will not be happy, think of it as a new saw and you will be fine. if this makes sense.
  15. well if he has so much on the go why not? his bench is always loaded with tools. rekon he could make money from it. seems to be doing it every eve, so why not make a job from it, its nice to earn beer money now and again but if your that good at a job then do it. what is it everyone says, if you love what you do then its never just a job?!
  16. ask for a bar like this one:thumbup::lol:
  17. if all the wear is on one side only i would say that piece of the bar is made of paper mache, as you are a tool maker im sure you are aware of hardening and tempering. so either this piece of the bar as not had it done so its nice and soft or it has not been done properly. new bar if its worth it.
  18. so why dont you do it for a living. you are good with saws cant argue with that, but as you are making from it now why are you not set up with workshop?
  19. at a guess would say a wheel weight to bring it back down when empty
  20. can always give a few pointers for beer tokens. i did know that treequip but was trying not to get too into it as he is a novice. my next question was going to be if the bar was worn or bent. to a very new user a saw is a scary thing with lots of dribble in the manual. i do have to ask why you have a topper, or does the t at the end not mean that? not really familiar with the mc crappok range of numbers.
  21. where are you as its easier to teach in person really. but will try. first thing, yes dry clutch, the wear surface is on the clutch shoes, and also the drum is a wear surface. it will cut a curve if one side of the chain cutters are smaller than the other or one side are blunt. a file size will be given by what chain you are using, you need the right size file for the chain, what chain is it so we can advise you on what size file you need.
  22. what i was going to say. he was liable for obstruction when he parked in the way, had this before when a neighbour parked in front of me, had to get to work early and they wouldnt answer the door. so plod out and they still didnt answer until plod said they would tow there car, they then answered the door and gave plod abuse about it being a school day and it was 7am (was a saturday), then they tried to say that there was no one there to drive the car. so plod said they will call a tow truck and they would have to pay for it. they soon moved. and i was told that next time i could push the car out the way and get away with it as long as i had pictures. ins wouldnt pay out for any damage. will always remember it. and yes you where very right to stand your ground. no pay no play.
