Short of either the de comp leaking a bit and stopping after the comp has built after a few pulls. Or the spark plug leaking a bit and doing the same as the de comp button. Maybe a compression test will shed some light on it.

But would you want to be in the same boat as getting found with such tools, say they get stolen from the workshop. As a record of every machine is kept and there numbers. Handling stolen goods? The word would spread very quickly and could very easily ruin a business such as mine!!!

It's more the king pin on the front allowing the up and down motion on the wheels. See if there are stops so it doesn't lift as much.

When the head as checked did the valve guides get checked out? One hasn't been broken and allowing oil into the cylinders?

So you have no issues with repairing a stolen machine, even if you highly suspect it to be so . What do you do when it's a chipper and you get asked for the serial numbers? I'm not talking about every machine, just when you get that gut feeling of "this doesn't seem right, seems a bit funny to me" This is my thought, a nice sign about the entrance, or behind the workbench, something that is non instructing but respectful. After all, would you take a stolen car into a garage and expect them to repair it?

It also applies to everything else. Like a chipper for example. No numbers on that, so what's the deal with them? I know sometimes for parts green mech ask for the number. If no numbers on it do you report it or leave it? And to who?

Well been a bit of a long day, and got even longer. Got called down to the boat house this eve. They have cancelled me going on the course as I would not be in a fit enough state to complete the course.... So that's the course off for a few months, not very happy over it to be honest, but can also see there point. But does leave me in a small dilemma for next week as I have put back all my work and turned down days of work grounding, and feel like I have let people down without a reason, so a loose end of a week for me. Docs are being a pain. Not telling me much about anything. So spending ages on the phone trying..

So a word with the owner and he will be more than happy to produce a receipt for the sale from the auction then??

I know it's a tough thing. But yes it is theoretical Barrie as I was thinking about it over a cuppa today. Grass them up and run the risk of backlash as if the saws are stolen they could be very undesirable people anyway. Or let them on there way refusing to work on them, knowing the stolen gear that could have very well been someone's on arb talk who has so posted about being broken into? If a backlash is what happens then fine. I would rather report and go with it than the other. But for it being harmless then I would rather have that route and look a bit foolish for being careful than not. Would always speak to the customer over my concern first. As they could very not know the kit would be stolen anyway.

It is. Also got a chipper coming in at some point with brake issues. And a general service. A few mowers coming in from domestic people aswell. Oh and finding time to get my truck over the pit before it's MOT is due.

One for the techs and dealer guys! This is purely a theoretical thing, I havnt to my knowledge done this but. If you had a really dodgy looking customer or a known person that came in with some dodgy (or suspected dodgy) saws that they wanted looked at and or fixed, what would you do. And what does the law say? Do you refuse, and let them on there way. Take the machines in and then phone around dealers checking the series numbers, if they are readable/visible. Are the dealers/manufactures even have access to a stolen machine list? Are they even interested. Do the police even care? If you called them. I know on a moral ground it's wrong and if I did suspect so then it would be time to report the machines.

what he said. the two halves are matched, and if you only get one half and it may look like it fits fine after a short while the joins may open up, or just not seal right and you will end up with an air leak in the crank case and causing a lean sieze. best order both halves and a new crank. but this will no doubt lead to a new saw by the time you have paid for it all.

what alternator have you used. the Delco 10-SI is a good one as its a bit smaller than the rest and the way its mounted means it is slightly more back and into the block. the arm still catches, but only when you are on a very steep bank part or stump.

tw are renound for bearing failures. always have a spare set in the workshop it will save hassle time and money. ive repaired two tw with wheel bearing issues in the past 6 months. neither had a bent axle tho. not that i could make out. it takes a few seconds to grab hold of the wheel int he morn and rock the machine to check they are in an ok state. either that or jack it up and wobble the wheels.

ms180, not oiling, cleaned out and reset the pump in its place with the holes. all good. also looked like the chain had been sharpened with a flat file. so thats sorted. hs45, running problem, tweak on the meter arm. all good. husky 435, new oil pump fitted, now runs good, and a quick sharpen. todays drop offs. ms660, chain brake issues. so checking all the parts out before going for the exhaust. ms260, blown piston. now waiting for the arrival of a rotorvator, needing new tynes, complete engine service, and a good clean up, with painting and removing any rust.

I guess you are right in a way. But I rarely use them on the nice stuff like ally. I have used them for cast iron block, steel heads. Cleaning threads are fine. But making new threads they just wouldn't do it. And in my thinking was to get decent ones, rather than the cheap rubbish (and I did buy some) and they break re threading a block and I then have to go and buy some meaning it will put a job back, or worse break off inside the block and I have to spend more hours getting the broken bit out...

Anything that isn't brought in aldi or lidl. :lol: Go to a good shop and buy a good set. I have been using Britool ones and I can't fault them, but you will pay for them. Must be tungsten.

I just like the advert. Can't see what the fuss is about. I nice body is nothing sexual at all, it's just a nice body. And I do believe in my experience a man with a six pack and all is found to be nice to look at by women,.... And I should know, there are 5 women in my house.... Now that would up the sales by over %100...:lol: Nice avatar!.

Quick update. Been busy today, since 3am. Tablets I'm on are starting to not work anymore. Called the docs for any news on my test results. There computer system had crashed and they couldn't tell me anything, also couldn't even make an appointment...... How ever has the human race lived without computers?? Oh yeah it's called a pen and paper........... So now I've been told I will have to wait until Tommorow afternoon, so another day I will feel like crap. At least a days tree work will keep my mind off it I guess.

The wives just don't understand spud... Should have seen mines face at the wooden coffee table top after I had stripped an ms200t on it..... I had to build her a new glass top table after.

Going to be building a hillux tipper soon. The lifting body is being built by a company and will have the report with it. So just need to build the box and fit it all. It's cheaper than paying for a company to do it all. And with the tools and space is fairly straight forward.
