I was cutting a long time ago ( with a 372 as it happens ) and the same thing happened . Cutting what would seem to any one a clean freshly felled stem and the next thing I know the oil is every where . Turns out a stone was deep in the wood " taken up " by the tree and the chain had fired it strait into the tank .

On the other hand ...Years ago when I was young and did not know jack sheet I had a crack in the toilet in the house i first bought . Eventually it started leaking . So I called the insurance company and said about it . He said " how did you break it ? " I said " it was like it when I moved in but only just started leaking " ..he said " No , HOW DID YOU BREAK IT " .. I said " Oh , yes errr I dropped a big spanner down it changing a tap washer " He said " we will send you a cheque " ......

I would try removing any aluminum transfer with acid first ( as spud is always advising ) Might minimize any other work you have to do on the cylinder . Oh he is on it before I finished !

Genuine " Black " creosote you can only buy in bulk containers from trade type farm/building suppliers ( it being carcinogenic ) as opposed to B+Q type pretend stuff in small containers . Question is were did you get it ? -
