  1. And that is without saying what he wants done with it .
  2. I know what you meant doobs , I was just being a twat . Some of the most sort after timber is that which is pulled out of a swamp .
  3. fish manage to get O2 out of water ......
  4. Iv driven a Rifter . Did not particularly like it . Softly sprung , very intrusive " driver aids " some of which you can turn off but default to on every start up . Gutless 1500 cc diesel ( non turbo ) and needs addblue .
  5. I received the above in an email this morning because in the past I had signed the petition .
  6. Don't forget to take down the rakers as I have said before .
  7. There is no " law " saying you can't use a top handle on the ground . It is frowned upon in some circles . If he did become a statistic he would only go to A+E (or God forbid the morgue ) not prison .
  8. Thought I must be typing with invisible ink ! Thanks bmp01 ?
  9. Glad you have an improvement . You still did not say if you are using a file guide plate to sharpen or if you are doing it free hand . To be honest if you had a 4.00mm or 4.5mm it would not have made much difference provided you keep the file at the right height ( one 5th of its diameter above the top plate of the cutter ) Also take the rakers down ( depth gauges ) every 3rd or 4th sharpen .
  10. What would you think is more dangerous ....Standing with both feet planted firmly on the ground with both hands on the saw or dangling 40 feet in the air at full stretch on a bending limb one handing it ?

There is a harry john spankers one on Ebay right now .
  12. Are you using a file guide/plate ? This will hold the file 1/5th of its diameter above the top plate of the cutter which is were it is supposed to be . Some people can do it " free hand " but if not use an Oregon guide or similar ......Edit . Having just watched the vid it seems to be " 4 stroking at about half revs which might be too rich ? Also apart from running shit the chain seems to be bouncing off the depth gauges . You need to take them down every 3rd or 4th sharpen .. Also chain looks to be too tight ...
  13. Imagine that on a pod on your leg ! ?
  14. I cant . tears are running down my face . ?
  15. I believe Spud has ported a prototype .........
  16. Remember waking up and thinking I was on a different planet . The sky line had changed completely . It seems something good can be taken from something bad ( the soil compaction realization ) .
  17. And ports well . Rocking horse shit now though . France possibly .....

Don't scrap the pot if it only slightly damaged . Most of it will be aluminum transfer and can be removed with brick acid or similar . Get a Metier piston and rings . BUT find out why it nipped up in the first instance . If it was bad fuel ok , if it was an air leak get that sorted first or it will happen again . Best option send it to Spud for a rebuild and a port job ! money well spent .
  19. By all accounts the MK2 550 is a significant step froward over the MK1 . If Jonsie has the Mk2 on offer I would not hesitate .
  20. I have tried the " upside down " fire and found it to be no different than the conventional method . Both work well . As I understand it there is supposed to be less smoke on start up with the upside down method .
