  1. I got a Husky 3120 .........Never had that at all . Its a bit of an antique but it gets the job done . 42" and 50" sprocket nosed bars . Trade it in !!
  2. Nicely done if that's where he wanted to be ....
  3. Don't shoot so much now as injurys prevent me from doing it how I used to .
  4. Does sound like a tight spot . Slacken the chain off and see if you can pull it round by hand without it trying to climb out at the point it smokes . If you cant pull it you can prize the rail apart with a flat bladed screw driver till the chain runs free .
  5. Stubby

    New chain

    Sensible answer .
  6. When you have had yer saw strides on all I like to put shorts on . Then I go and poo pick the horses .....Doh !
  7. I can't see it either . the only thing I can think of is type of wood . If its all strait processor friendly type stuff you could have less air space over snotty wiggely stuff . ..
  8. This Stihl chain break made of flora thing has been on before . We did discuss modding the exhaust can to direct the hot gasses away from the handle . Check previous thread to see if anyone came up with an answer .....
  9. Ok yea ./ Of course . Like on the forwarder sticks up to the pins . Just wondered if his delivery trailer had a max weight allowed and when green ha could not fill it right up but seems not the case from what you say . Could it be a fast one then ?
  10. Isnt it a "how much weight you can put in a trailer " thing . The green wood weighs more coz of the moisture content . The dryer wood weighs less so you put more in to bring the weight of the trailer up to max ?
  11. Thats why you need at LEAST 25hp . If you had that the torque would keep it going . I have run one off a ford 4000 which is about 30hp I think and nothing stops it .
  12. Had it for a week last summer ( Orange ) Checked with them and they were upgrading masts all over the land . Sure enough they were workingon the one on top of the hill near me . True to their word it came back stronger than ever when they finished .
  13. Off the bay . Think it was Poland or Germany . Its heat treated to make it tough as opposed to hard . . Some have a replaceable tip . Check what your final rotation is going to be to determine left or right helix on cone ! Mine is a 13hp Honda and works fine on easy splitting stuff like syc but get a bit of gnarly old elm and it can stall on the cone . You will need at least 25hp .
  14. As said above you need top reduce down via gearing ( Mine is a driven by a duplex chain and two chain wheels ) . You need to reduce the gearing to get the torque . Ideally you need at least 25hp to 30hp . Anything less and it will stall on the cone .
  15. I could not work out if it was 3-5 minutes or 3-5 cuts minimum ? Any weay I just cut full width of the bar in a big chuck of ash and all is well .
  16. Ok . never seen that before . Thought you were winding me up ! Not sure what age mine is . Will dig it out and have a look .
  17. Or was that a wind up about the primer ? ........
