  1. Its when you put a longer bar into a bigger log for a given size power head . Put a 20" bar on a 50cc and use 18" of it as opposed to a 15" bar in a smaller log and only using 12" of it . On the 20" you are asking it to drag more cutters through the wood than you are on the 15" .
  2. It snowed mid morning for about an hour . Great big flakes the size of a saucer ! Ground too warm for it to settle .
  3. Morning all . Currently 4c and rather than going up its going down during the day ! Very cold rain I think . Happy humpday .
  4. BIG J would approve 🙂
  5. Wondered what that was all about Steve . Thanks mate . Did it 20 mins ago .
  6. I played the Hamberger Concerto the other night . Big piece .
  7. Red Barchetta is one of my favorites 😀 @Oldfeller

    Yew Wood

Yew know 🙂 I don't think I have ever burnt it , despite living next door to the biggest block of ancient yew forest in Europe .
  11. Used to be Spud but he is retired, now its Crocky . I have saws ported by both . All good .
  12. A sharp chain beats more power all day long . As above . The smallest , lightest that will do the job every time .
  13. 390 should be on .375 ( 3/8ths ) not .325 . Bar length 20,24,28 seems good . I have a Spud ported one .
  14. Morning all . Starlit sky and noticeably cooler at 4c with a high of 8c .
  15. Question for the specialist air gunners out there . Daystate Red Wolf sub 12ftlbs .22 . 25 yard indoor target . Always used Rangemaster Soverein 15. 89 grain pellets as recommended by Daystate . Made by JSB for Daystate . Just lately I have found them to be inconsistent . On Ebay I found a tin of New old stock Daystate pellets ( with Daystate on the tin ) same 15.89 grain so I bought them . If you examine the two pellets there is no visible difference . Tonight I put 22 pellets ( 11 per mag ) through two targets side by side at 25 yds with the the NOS Daystate branded pellets . Punched the middle out of both targets . Pretty much all went through the same hole . Immediately did the same with the Rangemaster Sovereign pellets and got some " flyers " and shit grouping Nothing in the bull and some in the 9 . 8 and 7 but but up , down left and right . Some of it could be me but I doubt it . Thoughts ?
  16. Talking rats ! Whatever next 🙂
  17. Get down there with your new air rifle Steve 🙂
  18. That rail night work I presume is a possession ?
  19. Morning all . The last day of mild temps here . Late afternoon temps dropping away with a week of low single figures and a few noughts thrown in ! Happy Sunday 🙂
  20. Not today . They normally shoot on Fridays . The Saturday one last week was an odd one . Antony Whickens bought the day and wanted it on a Saturday .
  21. Oi oi then ! 🙂
  22. If you read what Mark wrote you will see its not a casting defect but the casing was scored from a thrown chain . He did a quick repair by removing the burr and scoring that was causing the problem . Aside from that , a 395xp is a cracking ( old school now ) saw that is tried and tested . I have one ( Crocky ported ) and have had 2x 394xp as well over the years .
  23. Didn't Bilbo Baggins live there ?
  24. So it didn't go wrong then ? It fell over and was thrashing on the deck . Admittedly it was not Robo Cop wrong but it did go wrong surely ?
  25. Yes . Dave has posted it up I see .
