  1. also apparently local authorities traffic team do not have to be informed of preposed treeworks, stop go etc as they are classed as mobile works and do not fall under the same stipulation as utilities and civils wrk where they require a permit to dig the road up.but as the same as highway lighting maintenance, verge cutting, gulley emptying.Only notification has to be given for tree work if you require a road closure or alteration/diversion of a road, roundabout, junction intersection etc etc. or the road in question is over 40mph speed limit.
  2. yup chapter 8 stipulates they do but its still cheaper to have two lads stood there on £60.00 a day compared to £500.00 for lights. We do the majority of roadside works with stop go boards
  3. how do you go on if you have a lad currently training for his tickets? only wondering as i have a lad learning and gathering experience in smaller trees ,so bought him a 200t as i believe everyone should have their own kit, making them responsible for the maintainence and up keep of their kit is a key part of the experience process?
  4. got a pair in the truck, really useful for harsh trees/hedges
  5. keep serial numbers when you buy new gear and write it down.its worth checking ebay,if your gear has distinctive features,a crack, scratch whatever you might be able to spot it on there.I had a 61 and 254 lifted three years ago, spotted the 61 on there months later, knew it ws mine as had a distinctive graze on the front of the oil tank.went to look at it ,checked the serial number and it matched|! so swiftly buggered off rung the fuzz and the bloke got nicked, turned out he had a garage full of hot gear builders, gardners mechanics stuff. worth keeping serial numbers if you get a glimmer of hope of seeing your stuff again then you can prove its yours!! plus serial numbers & receipts would be required if you are to claim on your insurance.
