  1. Photo and image hosting, free photo galleries, photo editing | Photobucket ours in action just before xmas
  2. if u want to get really anal about LGP and not marking the ground, you can buy a set of flotation wheels and tyres that will go straight onto you 150. You can get them from Logic ATV . W"ill stop the chipper sinking period and stop you getting stuck!!
  3. apologies for appearing dumb, not been on here for a while what is fraped?
  4. we offer a free tip used by ourselves and several other tree lads.thankfully our lads are responsible and we havnt yet ended up with any junk loads.when theres 4 loads stobarts come to collect,we get between £7-£14 per tonne collected.
  5. are you sure the old giffer wasnt still in it?!
  6. bloody good behind qaud or compact tractor, plus cheaper than a tracked one too
  7. Not a diffrence of opinion pal, merely an observation ive made over the years when it comes to liability. Insurance will always be a grey area as they always have the upper hand when it comes to smallprint and loopholes. As you say the best way to keep safe is dot the IIII's & cross the TTTT's make sure your current with the legislation and paperwork.
  8. just a quick thought, probably veering the thread totally off course! im self employed, with relevant certification insurance etc etc, but what still astounds me to this day is that every PL & EL insurance company that i have been with has never asked to see any certification of competance what so ever. I can produce certification to them upon request if required for me and my staff but it looks to me that Joe Bloggs can apply for 5 million pl insurance on "good faith" grounds. they seem to go off a £££ payroll for what %%% of your earnings come from work at certain heights? you could quite easily clean the side out of a property with a big old pollard butt 10ft tall that you are lifting out of a property.using no formal qualification but be experianced?! presumably the grief occurs if you have an error with no ticket then come to claim, and they turn round and say sorry no ticket insurance is now void!! confused.com
  9. shame,if you need one in future, try jp exhausts in Macclesfield, Cheshire. will build you a full manifold, silencer and exhaust for less than dealer price.also comes with a lifetime warrenty!!
  10. love the tw 150. light and manouverable by hand. can go accross sites behind the compact tractor where heavier ones would sink or mark lawns. easy maintenance, economical on fuel. love the tw190 too although a little heavy off the tarmac. the tw150 suits up brill where we lift it down inclines into pond and watercourse bases with digger to chip brash-take the machine to the work, not the work to the machine. only downside we found were the flywheel bearings failing.....twice in 4 years but other than that brill little machine.
  11. i know what the problem is here guys!! where on earth is his PPE?!! he wont stay safe and sterile without it !
  12. we have a mk6 tranny tipper and were fed up of getting stuck everywhere. our soloution was to put 4x kingpin trekker diamonds on the rear and run it with 10mm spacers to stop em scrubbing when loaded. 100% better on wet grass verges , snow and fields in summer- but also has downsides. As stated above you normally get too brave and get stuck further from civilisation!! Also the problem with all transits is the weight distribution..... the front wheels are carrying the majority of the weight of the engine, which sink on soft ground, making knobbily rear tyres useless and you tend to dig uber big potholes making the situation much worse. will put pics up of our van with the offroad tyres on,does vastly improve traction for a transit but by no means makes it a field plodder.
  13. that is what the bobble bits look like! couscous i dont know what it is and im not wanting to go ahead with the crown works on the tree with this disorder present until i know what it is and if my works are going to further stress the tree leading to its demise

  15. hi Dan, no its not bleeding canker, infact it has no signs of that anywhere, its a lot lighter in colour and is almost like a paste to touch, mushy with tiny round bits in it that are a paler cream colour, The best way to describe it is as cous cous in texture! got me totally stumped! Thanks for help all the same Dan
  16. hi all been a while since ive been on here but ive stumbled accross somthing new to me.... veiwed a horse chestnut tonight which has a light brown, discharge seeping from the cambium around 8ft from the ground. Its a very light brown colour and seems to have a lumpy consistency, almost looks like cous cous!! Ideas as im stumped! the tree has a couple of other ailments, major damage to main trunk, possible digger strike in previous years gone by,plus either leaf minor or guignardia but not too sure on that either but probs the 1st option is more probable. help please chaps will try to pop back tommorrow for a few pics. ANdrew

  18. thats fair enogh or if you can group several smaller jobs into a days work,ie 5 smaller pruning jobs in local area @ £100.00-£120.00/ job thats what we try to do nowadays to reduce running costs
  19. sorry for waffling YES we sell logs.lol
  20. if you own the mog, cant u park her up until work arises or is she asset to free up funds to downscale? also could you diversify with the mog into veg mgmt? flail mower, topper or hedge flail? just a thought Andi
  21. dont think fastrac bed would benefit a box as not big enough. Where i used to work, they ran a 10" junkkari on the front of a renault temis with 10tonne trailer behind, used to just drop the trailer turn tractor round and load from the front of the trailer, but the trailers fill real quick with 10" filling them so ud soon fill a box on a fasttrac bed.
  22. we sell our logs on seasoned,we store ours in a poly tunnel which achieves fast drying turnaround we do odd days at it when we are quiet, normally in the winter. if two of set to a days splitting with the machine typically we can turn 9 loads round /day (splitting)which equates to £1000.00 once delivered so minus labourer wage £60.00/day £50.00 fuel for saws, delivery and log splitter. so £890.00 profit/ 9 loads seems a viable winter income for us,plus i quite like being in the warm poly tunnel on a cold wet day splitting wood
  23. bull rope...barbers chair in ash good point i free felled a well buggered ash few yrs back and she broke out off the hinge before she gained any real direction from gob,i pooed and thought if only id put a pulling rope up there as a safety!! without seeing first hand the state of this trees trunk and weighing up the amount of remaining sap wood at fell height i cant determine the probability of a barbers chair but thanks for correcting me there matty i was only presuming the trunk was fairly well decayed. apologies
  24. round us £17.00/hr is about going rate for grass cutting and strimming, we have muppets under cutting us @ £15.00/hr with a b&Q value mower.lol we get a good return @ that price, plus all our work is within 5miles of yard so our fuel outlay is minimal, plus honda are very economical mowers and mowing all day we probs fill them up once or twice which is mere ££ but you could push for more £££/hr if you wanted to i suppose
  25. Paul, we have had muppets on our case all week regarding access to a site and parking on it..... ive found 4 words excellent in dealing with such half wits,it may not be in youe customer service manual but works a treat.... it goes: "go blow my donkey!" nuff said ,they are left dumbfounded with no comeback and you can resume your work. Happy Days!!
