  1. Nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of T-cut.
  2. Ah, chinese safety decals...my friend once owned a Chinese motor bike the safety decal on the tank read as"DO NOT RIDE THIS MOTORCYCLE AFTER CONSUMING WINE". Brilliant. Didn't state if that was red or White though??
  3. Seems a good idea. Any advice is good advice.
  4. Yep! That's the one. I must learn to t y p e f a s t e r.
  5. The aluminium ones megatron mention are fine,it's the steel ones you can't use, something to do with heat transfer causing the plug to self implode, so I've been told.
  6. The end broke off throttle cable on me van this morning, crimped 6mm electrical eyelet on the end of the cable, hooked it on,sorted.
  7. Fair enough. There's a knack to getting out broken studs,I've done hundereds (it's my job) but I'll admit I got it wrong the first few times. If you don't feel confident doing something then it's a good idea to let someone do it who knows what their doing.
  8. Agree totally. But how do you educate someone in the skills involved in the first place?you got to start some where, right? You can't learn on the basis of trial and error!? I haven't got any tickets yet but have been using saws for ni on 12 years( with ALL the relevant PPE) I would like to think that I do everything by the book as far as safety/operating practices are concerned, and i have recieved some educated guidence from friends and colleges. But until someone shows you other wise how am I to know, hense why I'm looking at doing some courses. Been some useful comments so far. Keep em coming. Ta

    Sleep

Don't drink coffee or coke or eat cheese after 7pm. Diet is a major factor. Stress don't help either, read in bed to take your mind off things. Seems to work with me. Zzzzz
  11. I've got one of those FM transmitters that pug in cigaret lighter for eye phone. Can use it for playing tunes aswell. Not much use if you don't have eye phone though. For permanent fixture you can't beat Parrot.

    MS441 or MS460?

Interesting. Must be some truth in what I was told after all. Might have to stock pile a few lol
  13. What sort of volume you after?
  14. Brilliant little machine. Best hydraulics I've ever used. Seems reliable. Don't over look the Takeuchi or Doosan machines. All preference really. I'm not a fan of the little JCB,just my opinion. Take into consideration the availability of spares and service.
  15. Yep. Measured the oil, into the fuel. 5mins later me mate tells me he had already done it. Duh!
  16. Will do. Just trying to decide which to do.
  17. Good one. And bigger arms.
  18. Understood. Thanks for the advice. I understand that any size saw is dangerous and correct operational procedures apply to large and small but do the courses not offer any advice/safety guidance for future use of larger equipment and the greater risks involved???
  19. I don't have one, yet. I was led to believe that 30/31 only covered the use of bars upto 15"? I'm looking to do courses due to employment possibilities and future opportunities. So what does it say on the certificate?

    motorhead

Gutted. I hate it it when things like that happen.
  21. Forgive me if this is a daft question. Having passed cs30/31 is there any requirement for training in use of longer length bar chainsaw? Is there a cs unit that covers this? Do insurance require for liability purposes etc?

    MS441 or MS460?

Thanks to all for advice. 460 looks to be the weapon of choice for most. Might try and get my hands on one for a trial first, prob won't be looking to purchase until new year but had herd that Stihl are planning to phase out the 460 not sure if that's true though??

    Jokes???

40 Gypsies arrive at the Pearly Gates in their Transit vans and caravans. St. Peter goes into the gatehouse and phones up God, saying I've got 40 travellers here. Can I let them in?' God says 'We are over quota on ******. Go back to the gates and tell them to choose between them which are the 12 most worthy and I will let a dozen in. ' Less than a minute later St Peter is on the phone to God again. 'They've gone',he tells God. 'What?'says God, 'All 40 of them?' 'No, ....the gates'.

  25. You will prob be better off having your local engineer fabricate new rods and welding the pin boss back on. Depending on size you might find someone to repair them. I'll check my phone book later.
