  1. Not sure if Mat will be here this Christmas,(hoping he can make it!) but you are always welcome to call by and see Tim & me, club open Thursday/Friday and weekend, yes it is VERY different!
  2. I still have no idea how you get a picture on thread! pasted the URL and it did nothing, yes I like that photo too, they did 32 this afternoon and have another 68 tomorrow if weather permits
  3. The TPH is next to us, so familiar with all the network that have worked there over years, You must come up with Matt, new social club now,!
  4. Not far, behind Blackaburn where we live, about 2-3 miles from Stonehaugh
  5. Yes, the helicopter pilot had a weighing thing on board, they were meant to be all less than 2 tonnes, the original helicopter was too small, and this larger one got sent instead, most of them were around 1.6 tonnes, but there was one larger, that was 2. 3 tonnes according to the scales, a 45 foot tree. You could hear the engine was under strain from a long way off.
  6. Wark Forest, just near to where we live, one of the trees was near a stell at the end of the land here, which is in a clearing of around 50 hectares in the Kielder forest. There was no access to any of hte sites, and very difficult terrain etc, so this was the only way to remove them.
  7. How did you do that? I cannot work it out at all, but the link does go to my FB page, I have only just done the album a few minutes ago!
  8. This is the link to todays photos, (only some!)
  9. Probably, just trying to get them on arbtalk!
  10. These were 40-50 foot, heaviest today just over 2 tonnes!
  11. Mitsubishi L200: Where can I locate the reversing light sensor - JustAnswer This takes you to as diagram of the reversing light switch
  12. Spent day in Kielder watching helicopter lifting 40-50 foot Sitka destined for Christmas trees in shopping centres etc in UK. Averaged 1 tree every 3 minutes from sites to roadside. All trees on were already on ground and slings on for fast lifting etc. Was surreal, and VERY exciting seeing a giant Christmas tree on its side flying through the air! never been done in Uk before, at least not in Kielder. I have good photos but dont know how to upload them?
  13. Ahh, but to those really 'Up North' (Northumberland borders) Yorkshire is south, much too far to venture, what about Kirkly Hall, someone did an arb event there about year ago and it was well attended?
  14. Nought wrong with being 'Girly'! personally I find my 'Harke waterproof jacket gives good protection from thorns, and chainsaw gloves, but if its hot weather that can be uncomfortable! (I have noticed that men dont seem to feel thorns, or are they just being very macho?) Steph
  15. Great programme, watched it again on i-player, want to sell up and buy/live in a wood now!
  16. PS. Advert running in local paper saying '2 metre bags', is there such a thing?? At £90 for H/W I think they may mean 1 x 1 m bag...
  17. I Like this thread, got the customer who thinks the 3 m3 load should stack in a 3m cube, Notdelivered loose/bagged it does'nt! mostly people seem suprised how much they get and panic about where it will fit, most garden centre type log stores are too small.
  18. I get it too now, was sooo confused, have not even got maths gcse so really gave me a headache reading this thread!
  19. Love it!
  20. I believe it is most important to site timber storage areas where the wind has maximum impact, old farm buildings here not designed to be that drafty, so has been a problem for us! I try and store timber in most windy sites and find it makes all the diffference. Saw a kiln go on ebay last night that used no direct heat, seemed a dehumidifier provided enough and removed moisture successfully, got us thinking....
  21. Blue sky, frosty morning, -1degrees outside....
  22. Cant beat an Esse, economical with the logs and a joy to cook on, easy to light and keep temperature steady once you have learned the ropes. The preparation/planning of the logs is essential, as they must be dry and always available, as this is our only source of heat in kitchen, cooking. Ours does hot water which is a bonus and some models do central heating.
  23. I agree Steve, if you wait, then at least you can continue climbing straight after course, and practice what you have learnt without any worries, a big gap will (presume you are not planning to climb during rest of pregnancy!) mean you have to almost 'start again'. Hope it is a great 9 months for you whatever you decide to do!
  24. Agree, sell 100's tonnes sitka, it is great when dry, but all softwoods burn well seasoned. Our range and large wood burner keep in 8-10 hours no problem if larger logs used overnight, although the tiny one would'nt. But they are so easy to light using softwood that it doesnt matter, they stay nice and warm for a few hours if they do get left too long and go out.
  25. Changed from oil to wood range a few years ago, main reason price! but the EU regulations changed the fuel spec, and it is really bad for Agas, means you have to have wicks changed every time new fuel is put in your oil tank, they get all sooted up cooker just gets cooler and cooler and useless for cooking anything but a slow stew! apparently it is a well known problem but I dont know what the answer is. I thought at first when it started to happen that the oil company was delivering dirty oil and kept complaining, but found out it was a newEU oil, and it meant changing wicks (expensive!) every 6-8 weeks as oil ranges dont like it.
