  1. Stop ovulating mate. I took the gate out of my caritool the other week and it's made life so much easier. I don't miss having the gate there at all.
  2. My all time arb hero Adam Bourne posted a couple of pics on this for his 150 in a different thread. It's a great feature that should be standard on all toppers. If I remember I'll post a link tomorrow when I'm sober.
  3. God help me but the northern knuckle dragger is spot on by all accounts.
  4. Our climber in the making sectioning down a conny stem in a pub car park.
  5. I'd say you're spot on there. You seem to have a decent understanding on the forces applied to rigging gear, and should stick to what you know/have experience in. In my opinion the more links you introduce to a system the more complex it becomes in terms of understanding the dynamics, and the more there is to go wrong. Using a steel crab (no matter how high it's rated) with a bowline will put way more stress on the line than a half hitch/timber hitch combination. The 3t sling may be stronger than the rope, but just because the sling won't fail, that doesn't mean it's safe. An anchor hitch would be a better termination from the rigging line to the crab, but why complicate things.
  6. If you fancy experimenting I'm near enough and up for trying new things. While this reads as a desperate Lonely Hearts ad, I can assure you it's just the wine talking.
  7. What you and your mate do in your private time is hardly relevant And was the "lawn boy" consenting?
  8. Yup, it's s more modern world than some people realise. There's plenty of female comp climbers that are simply awesome. I saw a video of Jo Hedger climbing and it was nothing short of brilliant. There are still old fashioned views in this industry but those aren't the views of people you should want to waste your time on anyway. We employ a lad that's grumpy 4 weeks of the month, which is 400% more than most women!
  9. Jaime, I spoke to Nod at treeworker about doing a course last year, but I never got around to it. I'm based in Rugby and am still interested, so if you find a course nearby and need a place filling, drop me a message.
  10. Thanks, I can't take credit as I heard the tip on here. Goes to show how helpful this forum can be
  11. That's the one. Does 90% of our rigging. Cheap and tough. No sense using anything bigger unless you're rigging huge lumps on a regular basis.
  12. Is it the red and white one? Lovely stuff, very light and strong, and durable too. Ours does most of our rigging. The heavy line only comes out for blocking down big stems.
  13. Just re-read my post, who the hell is Emily? Meant "only"
  14. Ouch, burn! I appreciate the irony coming from a father of three though!
  15. Ah, I see. Must've cut 'em all down in your youth
  16. Yeah bit aren't you like Reg in the sense that you Emily get called in for the 150 footers? I find 37m fine for day to day use. As has been said the rest stays in your bag. My work rope was 45m until I accidentally on purpose shortened it mid climb, now 37m is just fine. Got 50m velocity at home which gets bought out for the big climbs though!
  17. Pretty sure the manual mentions fitting the tool clip... ...never mind, reading doesn't come easily to some people...
  18. And the saw on the right is battery powered??? Not mine, found the image on google, just to illustrate the plastic ring. Cos I'm nice like that. The t540 is broken out of the box, it is just a matter of time before the owner realises it.
  19. Like the one on the right. Both metal and plastic loops can be fitted at the same time.
  20. Did you not get a little plastic "high clip" that screws onto your T540? Ours came with one, so the metal strop ring is seperate to the plastic high clip loop. Check the extras that came with the saw.
  21. Throwline over the limb Pull lowering line over limb, and tie running bowline. Pull bowline back up to limb. Thread other end of rope to lowering point in adjacent tree, and back down to floor. Out of interest why don't you want to climb the tree?
  22. Thank you, too many numbers, I get confused. I forgot how old I was the other day.
  23. Thanks, it's worth knowing. I can remember what the warranty is on my boots but I would have thought that over 6 months would be pushing it! For the record I wasn't having a pop in my post, it was more light hearted than it may have read. I know the "pm sent" thing does raise a few heckles though!
