  1. Cracking video. Good climber, great lowering. Smiled at the climber getting his caritool clipped onto the rigging line. Had the same thing happen to me. That little avant looks nifty.
  2. Cheers, I'd figured it must be something to do with forces on the redirects, but I'm not the smartest. What bollard did you get with the bone? I ask because I'm almost due a new rope at work and I'd like something that can be used both ddrt and SRT, with a view to getting the BDB at some point. I reduced an oak of a similar size a while ago and I don't mind admitting it took well over one day even with another climber in the tree. Fair enough there were quite a few targets but still, that's good going for a day mate! Next you'll be saying you finished early!
  3. First class job there Adam. Great result. I've said it before, but it really is nice to see some videos of the pruning side of tree work. I like seeing bits of climbing SRT, redirects, and reductions. What rope are you using for your main line? I noticed in some cases you used static redirects, and in others dynamic, I wondered why differ? Oh, and I didn't even try to get my head round the cow hitch on a bight type redirect!
  4. Not really, it makes good sense to me. I guess it's a viable technique to prep for a chog down but the for neg rigging the time saved versus the unquantifiable weakening of the rigging point isn't worth it. Simple risk vs reward. Denouncing somebody's post like that without offering a counter argument is unproductive.
  5. Lucky git, if I want the posh stuff I gotta buy it myself!
  6. I climb in Blaze. Tough rope, took a fair bit of milking from new and occasionally pig tails a bit but otherwise good. By 9mm I take it you're climbing on Boa. It's a basic cord with low heat resistance. Get some 8mm ArmorPrus (I rang Nod at Treeworker for mine) or some HRC from Honeys. 8mm cord works really well on 11mm line with a Hitchclimber, if you haven't got one.
  7. That sounds like a lifestyle choice only you can make... ...congrats on coming out!
  8. Have you told your wife that? Good to see your heads in the right place. I'd have probably ended up running myself over, especially if my coffee was in there! To be fair I was hoping to laugh and be able to call you a pillock, but it's not something you'd really consider unless you were on a obviously steep slope.
  9. It must've seen you walking towards it with a handful of dirty rakings and thought "stuff this, I'm off!"
  10. Yeah, waste of money. I had three lads on the ground today dragging 100m+ to the chipper. I bet they aren't jealous of your setup at all!
  11. Oh no! The inboard clutch!
  12. The space button doesn't always work, do I get a few words compressed into one which confuses the spell check. Red wine makes it worse.
  13. Sorry, screen protector messes with auto correct! "Anything to stop you"
  14. I keep hearing about this 360 baffle. Is there anything risotto you just removing it and running the saw without?
  15. Don't bother with saw gloves. Pointless. That's fact, not just opinion.
  16. If you feel like you need a new pair of boots to footlock I would think your technique could do with refining. To be honest its a outdated practice, unless you're competing.
  17. You will struggle to survive subbing at £100 a day. It's simply not feasable. £120 absolute minimum.
  18. That's not the point. Rugby is the same. The tree gang are set up from tax payers money. Equipment, wages, training all subsidised. Then they compete in the private sector against other firms who've had to work for their kit. Rumour has it it's got to the point where outside contractors may get subbed in to do the Council trees as their teams are too busy with private work. I have no animosity towards the lads on the tools whatsoever, but the way it's run is disgustingly corrupt. I know of occasions where the Tree Officer has had the council quoting guy accompany him to TPO apps from private firms.
  19. Mines 3 years old and has recently become a bit less waterproof.
  20. Hmm, I'll bet you're a Peroni kind of guy, ain't ya Very good of you mate. I'll give it a good clean and a splash of cologne before I box it up
  21. I'll take 3... Once I have some spare cash I'll get the357 retuned. It's truly bedded in but sometimes stalls on idle
  22. Cracking oil (if you'll pardon the pun). Tad pricey but the smell is worth it
  23. That sums it up, comfy as the HiFlex, whilst being lighter, cooler and without the tendency to fall apart after two weeks!
  24. I have a pair of Type Cs. I really rate them. Comfy, light and breathe able. I believe my pair were one of the first off the line around a year ago. They're still in excellent nick. Only one small hole in the thigh pocket, after some serious wear. Loads of pockets, decent zips, and the shoelace hook is handy for climbing. I don't reckon you will regret your choice, so long as your lads don't abuse them. They look smart too, great for a pro team image.
