  1. British Waterways Scottish Canals Land and Water Fountains Ground Control Land and Water are a very good company but i think its all in-house for them. Keep an eye on the public tendering websites for inland waterways tenders.
  2. Now you just need to learn how to re-colour the clips
  3. All very valid and well thought out questions. I would suggest you engage the services of a forestry consultant to give you the correct advise based on the latest information. Iains points of pests and disease are very relevant at the moment. Good luck!
  4. All the information will be on the COSHH data sheet with the product regarding dilution rates. I would suggest a hand sprayer or if many stumps a knapsack. Paint brushes and lids with holes stabbed in tends not to cut the mustard so to speak if your seen these days!
  5. Remove pavers by hand and investigate. Would be difficult to retro install any effective surface. Doesn't look like its in a dedicated planting pit either. Investigation of the extent of the root crown is the first step and then see what can be done with out detriment to the long-term health of the tree. Personally I think it maybe a lost cause. Take a look at the Greenleaf catalogue online Ben. Lots if useful information regarding special surfaces in there.
  6. Looks like a lot of development close to the stem. Maybe that would account for the loss in vigor on one side of the crown?
  7. As per the title. We are the retained consultancy for an Estate in Cheshire. We have a planting programme this season that consists of 6,000 broadleaves and 6,000 conifer transplants with canes and guards over 3 geographically close sites. I am struggling to find contractors. I am inviting to tender any interested contractors through ArbTalk who have a proven track record in commercial planting work. The Estate will carry out the laying out using volunteer labour. All enquires to [email protected] Please no PM's as I rarely have time to check on Arbtalk. Many Thanks.
  8. Its purely a vocation IMO. There are very few rich tree surgeons. Those that have done very well have won very large tenders and surrounded themselves by experts in many diverse fields. It depends what you want out of life. Profit margins are 12-25% in most cases. Thats annually, to win some jobs main clients are going much lower. I've seen 7% just recently!
  9. Exactly Tony. There is plenty of frustration through the whole process. The survey the contractors are acting on May never have been intended as a schedule of works. Many clients won't pay to be hand held through the process either.
  10. I have no idea. All I know is, it ran fine before the OS update. Now, well two days ago, it was really clunky. Up until then I have had no problems at all on either the MacBook or iMac.
  11. Hi Steve, I've been using QuickBooks Online for about a year and two months now. Generally speaking it has been very good. Certainly the ability to send out invoices and check client balances on the hoof is very useful. I would say go for it with the caveat that it does not seem to integrate ugly with OS Mavericks yet. Sending out invoices on Friday it kept crashing when I sent out invoices and then duplicated them. I have a feeling this will be rectified fairly quickly though.
  12. Depends what your using it for. Still fairly valid IMO.
  13. To answer you original question... Boomeco are good.
  14. They'll only be getting 10-12 a tonne delivered in at the power stations. Haulage will be 6-7.00 per tonne. They'll only be making 1.00 a tonne from Essex. It all depends on who the supply contracts are with. I would just sit on it a bit if you have the room as they'll no doubt be desperate for it soon enough.
  15. I was thinking that. Look at site and surroundings Andy. Homeowner tipping something out maybe?
  16. It won't make a a jot of distance as the management companies will be in charge of the felling and the contractors will be their own contractors who will be the ones with the updated tickets. Its the usual them an us scenario. You won't get a look in unless you tow the Fountains, Tillhill, Scottish Woodlands line.
  17. Try Nathan at Pabo Tree Service in St Asaph, you'll have to google them and collect.
  18. It depends what you need to achieve.... larger surveys nearly always have a topo that you can manipulate. I'm not a fan. The best windows mobile type option seems to be Chris Skellern's ArborTrail which has had the price slashed recently.
  19. Matt Yates https://www.facebook.com/messages/matt.yates.3958 Used to goto school with him, a good guy.
  20. Deed not the breed! There is no such thing as a bad dog if it has been socialised and raised / trained correctly. I own a Staffie, I have owned many Staffies. The RSPCA and many vets say they are the best family dogs you can have. The Chavs buy / steal them because of the way they look and train them based on their terrier based determination. I have has mothers grab their children and folk cross the street when I am out and about with a dog under close control at heel. Comments like yours makes my blood boil.
  21. The chipwood manufacturers are starting to get really fed up with the biomass boys buying up all the chipwood to chip and burn for heat / power generation with the added bonus of massive RHI and ROCS. I've seen these too.
  22. Sorry to hear of your loss. At what point did you become aware of the traffic car? I'm not offering an opinion as it is impossible to see from all angles. Advanced driving is often seen as dangerous and irresponsible by others. He could have already positioned his vehicle for visibility before moving into an apparent dangerous position. If it was an area car, that would be entirely different as they are muppets!
  23. Have you got Ascot's old chipper now then Justin?
