  1. That's weird! It's called wash board effect but never seen it so pronounced in one area like that. Usually caused by using crosscut chain instead of milling chain. What chain are you using? gransberg milling chain with the modified scorers gives the best results. I wonder if the slab is sagging/dipping down slightly at that point, making the bar tilt. Maybe check the surface with a straight edge or a level.
  2. The bar mount may well fit but it will most likely have a 3/8 lo pro clutch sprocket or .325 In order to run 1/4 carving chain on a dime tip you would need to swap that out for a 1/4 clutch sprocket/worm drive. It may be possible to fabricate/modify one but I doubt there will be a ready made part for these saws.
  3. I suspect that you may not be able to get a 1/4 sprocket for these cheap saws. The Echo sounds like a good package, even if you got a decent used saw you still need to buy 1/4 sprocket, dime tip bar and 1/4 carving chain so whichever route you go you'll need at least £250-£300 Personally if it was me starting out I'd probably keep saving and buy the Echo pre set up for carving. If you decide it's not for you, you can sell on for similar money.
  4. No immediate plans mate, will definitely get at least one bench from them. There might be a board available, no idea of value ft3 or whether it's been cost effective. Wood was free but had to pay a mate to transport, plus almost a day's work processing/stacking & fannying about. Having said all that, I'm still glad I did it haha
  5. Phone is playing up, pics now hopefully😄
  6. Prepping for a big stump carve I was hoping to bring back the largest stem from first junction. I was hoping for someone with a grab to lift it out but that came to nothing so milled it instead. Really nice grain, 9 ft x 2 ft ish. Got 5 [email protected]" and 1@4"
  7. I know of a firm that build/repair wooden bridges. They use a lot of those sort of tropical hardwoods. They tend to use tungsten tipped chain as normal chain blunts too quickly. would be expensive to re-profile to 10 degrees mind.
  8. Do they have versions with hard drive like skyplus? So you can record on them
  9. I bought the power pack and the fine diamond grinder bit last week, came following day👍 I've not needed to try the jump start feature yet but have given my phone a full charge from 3% Sharpened a 36" milling chain today with the new sharpening stone, powered by the power pack. The stone is a big improvement on the previous type, quite a bit longer which I think helps it run much cooler on the chain. The grinder stone/bit is diamond impregnated steel and holds its profile rather than the other stone bits that wear away and lose profile. I'm really impressed so far, seems to have speeded up the whole process. The power pack is really easily connected to the 12v grinder by connecting the crocodile clips over the grinders clips, there's also a set of connectors in the package so you can adapt the grinder lead to plug into the power pack. Something I'll try when I have the time. Overall it's a great setup, really handy bit of kit !

  14. Agree with earlier comments but if you wish to sell them maybe take a look at what has sold previously on eBay to give you a guide to their worth. Probably not a reflection of your time on each piece but as you improve your work will gain admirers and you can demand a greater return on your skills/time Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app

  23. Ms 150 is a great fine detail saw with an R7 .043 carving bar, but you really need a little more power with a .050 dime tip &1/4 carving chain. Depending upon your budget for Stihl ms 201,181,171 with 1/4 clutch sprocket. Run your chain a little slack too. Sent from my HTC Desire 620 using Arbtalk mobile app
