  1. It can be trued up using a plunge router with a biggish flat bottom bit. Google router sled [emoji106]
  2. I can imagine mate, be patient. You could take up spoon carving while your waiting to get back on your feet [emoji846]
  3. Cheers, a smidge over 2 days mate
  4. Thanks buddy, it’s one of my favourite woods, pretty stable and very resilient outside [emoji106]
  5. Carved for a local Brewski bar . Leylandii 6’4”
  6. I’ve been suffering with a bad back today but that now pales into insignificance, hope your road to recovery is swift mate.
  7. That’s not quite so easy to answer as you’d expect. A lot depends on what value you think your talent and labour are worth per hr or day. How fast you work, what may take you an hour may take someone else less proficient an entire day. Add to that all your business running costs, we all have different business overheads so price will always vary. My day rate is £500, which on the face of it sounds a lot, but included in that is my overheads ( yard rent, fuel, oil, timber, etc) Yes there are cheaper out there but my price reflects my skill level and experience. I would think £300-350/day is a fair price to aim for,but at least charge your current rate in your main job for now[emoji106]
  8. Fair enough but it’s such an unrealistic price. This doesn’t affect me personally but if we lived close by then your prices could lose me potential clients. Hobby or not you have skills and should charge for your skills and time and if you’re uncomfortable about profiting from your hobby you could always donate your fee to charity [emoji106] I don’t mean to pee on your bonfire, your work is good, just don’t do it for nothing, you’re undermining artists and artisans who have to make a living [emoji1]
  9. Yes that was a few years back, still going strong mate, I fitted a dual port last year, it’s quite noisy lol
  10. A quick update on my blower. It was easier than I had thought, didn’t even need to drill the exhaust. Unscrewed the exit housing on the exhaust, there were two baffle type plates like you’d get between the cylinder and exhaust on a saw. Removed the spark arrestor, put everything else back on minus the upper plate and it has given the blower a new lease of life [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. Not again! Hope you catch the thieves mate
  12. Thanks spud, appreciate all your comments mate[emoji106]
  13. That sounds beyond my mechanical skills lol, I was considering a muffler mod but if it’s going to need a full port to make any real gains I may have to pass it on to the expert. can you pm a price please?
  14. Excellent, so what did you alter? Is a basic exhaust mod worth doing or are we in the realms of advancing the timing?
  15. Has anyone ever ported a leaf blower? I’ve got an old echo es2100 that would benefit from a boost [emoji1]
  16. Cheers Tony, yes mate I’ll be in touch
  17. Some recent pieces completed in time for Christmas
  18. Sold it for £150 Worked out at £55/cft 4 year air dried , needs sand blasting but has bags of character, very burry with one waney face. I was storing it for myself for future use but he really wanted it.
  19. Thanks Ste, I had a quick google last night and prices varied from around £150 to £250
  20. I’ve had an enquiry for an oak mantle Minimum 6ft x 9” x 4” Just wondering what people are charging??? Green and air dried? Do you price it per board foot? Thanks, Simon
  21. I think the kit can potentially extend to 60” but you only get one set of extension brackets in the kit, you’d have to buy an extra set to use all the rails together. One thing to note, in Rob’s video he fitted the rail extension at the nose end. I fitted the extension at the power head end as it gives more flexibility/allowances for using different bar lengths, similar to the older style Alaskan mills.
