  1. I tend to switch between 066 with either 36” standard 3/8 bar & granberg ripping chain or 42” lo pro. Recently acquired an 880 with 36” bar but will be getting a bigger bar at some stage.
  2. Hi Jo, I’ve used the ultimate mill a few times now, got it last month. Very happy with it. Best to speak with Rob Dyer at Chainsawbars really. As far as I’m aware the longest bar you can get for 661 is 42” lo pro, I may be wrong mind. That will give you 36” within the mill. Simon
  3. Oak, sweet chestnut, cedar, cypress, leylandii, redwood are my preferred woods, all very durable. Add to that elm, not so durable. Avoid willow and poplar, both very woolly and prone to rot quickly
  4. Sounds like a pub! Chainsaw only with a touch of spray paint
  5. Cheers eggs, I don’t doubt you[emoji1]
  6. Thanks mate, I had a concept sketch which was submitted as part of my bid for the commission. It’s loosely based on that but had to make changes on the fly due to rot pockets etc. Took 12 x 10hr days over 2 weeks, had first Sunday off to recharge my batteries and drove back home the following Sunday. It was a fantastic job but was a long time away from home and the family.
  7. Cheers Stephen, yes mate, he’s a big old ent
  8. Thanks Bill, yes it needed three levels mate. Carved it last month and yesterday was the first time I’d seen it without the scaffolding.
  9. Officially opened yesterday at Riverhead park, Sevenoaks. 25ft Ent, carved from an oak monolith.
  10. Yes as Dave has already suggested, using the flat side of the bar rather than the cutting edge to skim across the surface
  11. No Steve, just playing around with ideas in between jobs [emoji1]
  12. Zombie bride, still working on her but wanted to share anyway lol
  13. Have you got a router? Google router sled, I’ve trued up one or two smaller boards with this method. It’s tedious work but if you’re stuck for a solution it does work [emoji106]
  14. Tony, try and speak with Ian Mac or Wayne from Sefton ranger service. Based at Ainsdale behind pontins. They have a mobile woodmizer
  15. I think a lot of people have not been on the forum much since the changes, I've only just got the updated app for my phone. Facebook is usually a good place to ask as well
  16. Cheers Dave, not really lol. Need to give it some thought soon!
  17. All saw apart from chisels for the eye. Plus some black and white acrylic spray paint
