  8. i know that if your a tree surgeon, refersher courses are a make or break at interview level. i believe its every 5yrs being the average between completing the course and refreshing. this i say from what ive only seen and heard. In your case if nptc, being the governing body say's it fine then its fine. maybe you should get the person you asked at nptc to call this guy and explain or send an email saying your qual'd up and are good to go.

  14. timberwolfs are good but we get alot of blockages and have to dig it out by hand. weve also got a jenson and havent had a problem with that, the only thing that needs doing is changing the rollers as theyve worn down a fair bit. also the new greenmec is really fast and didnt have a problem with it. not sure which model but it was on a turn table
  15. basic kit you could spend £650 plus, id would wait though, as ud be able to use the colleges kit. it wont be great but enough to pass the exams and learn the basics. i say this as i did what you want to do and have landed a job where all equipment is supplied for me. now ive got over 1k of rope harness boots trousers helmet etc gathering dust

  17. would it not be cheaper to send it via sea. it would take a month or so and ud only pay part of the price for a shipping container if not dhl, when i was in iraq and afgan i used them i think it was around $100 for a 25kg box.

  21. ha take it easy , easy guy
  22. lol. ok, well the city council havent raised any tax for 3years, we havent recieved a pay rise in that time. we currently have 220k trees and on a good day 8 gangs of 3, and were soon to have a bugdet cut. the council owns the trees so if they want to process them for sale i dont see the problem, everything is recycled including the chip that goes to the power stations. so with budget cuts etc were bringing in a little cash that can go back into our dept to help with what every needs paying i.e. rent for the chippers ect. end of the day its a business, and im just a climber . as i said if you want to know more i can ask my boss
  23. if this is really bothering you, ill find out fm my boss end of week. so you can sleep easier at night:001_tt2:
  24. aye reciepts are made and handed over to the section director. this then does back into our section for equipment fuel heating bills etc etc. end of day the council owns the trees so if selling on makes some more cash for the section why not
  25. leicester city council sale logs and chip. chip at £3 a large bag and logs at £10 a boot or £30 for van etc. the money goes back into the system
