  1. aye the strap is just to secure the pad on to the wound, instead of trying to wrap a bandage around it. think there use of the word tourniquet is to be use lightly. but what you bought would do the job for everyday injuries bud
  2. Thats why i said not to bother with a tourniquet unless uve recieved the correct training, and to just apply the gauze and ffd
  3. http://www.rei.com/product/770185/z-medica-quikclot-sport-50g something like this, have a look around as i got mine for about £9
  4. the etd or ffd (first field dressing) will hold up to a pint of blood. by the time youve got your self together and started to apply it you would of lost a fair amount already. the gauze that i have is pretty much the same size as anormal gauze, the only difference is that it clots the blood aiding you some more time. placing the ffd on top would be enough even for a severed limb til you got down on the ground place a second dressing then the emergency teams should have feet on the ground to sort you out. If you was to hit an artery it would spirt out like water from a garden hose on jet mode. for those moments id have a quick clot gauze and ffd if i havent already gone in to shock. and from what you linked, a tourniquet is to be placed above the wound not on or under it. itll do no good. anything above an inch (unless its been changed) will also cause more of the limb etc to die. if you havent done a course in how to apply one id leave it alone, as applying it can cause further injury or death.id and just pack the wound stemming the blood flow. a good and cheap quick clot gauze would be from Z-MEDICA a quick clot sport mesh bag that is for temporary external use. You only have to control the situation til the medical professionals arrive. i guess theres others out there but its just a case of looking. o dont buy any military quick clot. its far stronger and if not applied directly into the wound it will burn through skin, giving you more problem

  6. get the gauze bud. u apply that 1st then the ffd
  7. lol and isnt it out of date. i did my 34 not to long ago and im sure it was a later edition
  8. its the same with 020/200/201t's because you need the tickets to buy there able to go for half if not more of the price of a normal 201. ive been scouting around and the amount of sellers discribing that a tophandle is great for logging up your fire wood ready for winter etc is unbelievable and a massive miss sell of the equipment.
  9. to place the cat it must be at least an inch above the cut, and to recieve training on this ud have to go a first aid course that surplies this. going on a 1 day/3day course wouldnt cover this as ud only learn basic 1staid. try st jhons course. ive not heard of any civvi courses teaching the use of this. I was luckly enough to go on a team medic course and MRA (medical regimental assisant) in the military ie i could apply cat, drips, deal with shot gun wounds missing limbs etc etc if i ever get my old laptop working ill post all relivent info. just remember that when and if you need to apply compressions etc that the governing body changes the amount evry year or couple of years. at the min you dont have to give breath if you dont want to, just continue with the chest compressions til emergency help arrives.
  10. ive unscrewed them so i can place 2 rings on the bridge. it already had locktight in the threads. so once i was done i simplly replaced the locktight. everythings great has ive had 3 loller inspections on it aswell as all other kit and its passed with ease. its a great lil harness for me and havent had any problem. i wouldnt worry bud
