  1. Has anyone else worn out the body on a spiderjack I have done two in less than 12 months? I use the wooden brake all the time and the bit off wood is pushed almost as forwards as it can go, I am pretty smooth on it and am running 11.7 rope which isn't particularly dirty or rough? I weigh just over 90kg so with kit maybe pushing 100.I also use a cambiums saver on every climb... I'm at a point where it's going to be too expensive to keep using one even though I love using it...
  2. Haha when I get a new pair of boots these bad boys are going on arbtrader... Light use, great condition
  3. They don't look like they have been looked after but I did dub them for the first 12 months and wash them regularly even if no one will believe me . Main issue was the sole wore out through to the grey part before I realised and then I couldn't get them resoled. The steel toecaps are starting to move about which is now an issue...
  4. My Airstreams are dead after 17 months and my feet are only dry because of my badass waterproof socks... Looking at getting a pair of hiax instead, does any recommend a pair. I am looking for a pair similar size to the meindls but not sure what models are the smaller low cut style of boot better for climbing? Air power gold, trekker mountain, protector extreme , protector light?... Thanks Arran
  5. Do you take a lanyard up with when you work off of two single lines? I assume you do if so how much does it get used?
  6. Thank you for the heads up
  7. All really interesting I always new it was a pain to get a mortgage as self employed. I am looking at getting on the ladder in the next 4 years. Anyone know what happens if you have been working in different countries? In and out of the EU ? Reading this looks like I might have to wait a bit longer and have settled down first for a few years before buying a house...
  8. Interesting And funny dude I'm sure I will mess loads of swedish up haha, interesting about the swedish classes will have to see how much I've learnt before I get out there got a while yet but love to be prepared. Sounds popular for renting. 400 quid isn't to bad I pay a bit less in NZ now but wages will be better In Sweden. So swings and roundabouts I guess I have been offered a job to start In January which is a while away yet but as long as all goes well and nothing changes I'm sorted. How do you find the workingIn Sweden?I am actually looking forward to doing a swedish winter. Looks like a challenge to me.
  9. Haven't thought much ahead of Stockholm will like to work there for a few years I think, it really does sound like a bit of me living wise, the work seems good and the pay good also I am just starting to learn swedish but free lessons sounds like a right result.
  10. Awesome
  11. What quantity of graphite are people using? I've never had a problem with it. I find you only need a small bit. Was nice of DMM to replace the Krabs
  12. I am hopefully going over to Sweden Stockholm to work in mid to late January ( I know it's cold ), curious if anyone on here has worked in Sweden and how they found it, including stuff like sorting digs bits like that. Not only arb related but lifestyle etc etc. Arran
  13. Fishermans
  14. What settings do people use on the gopro? 1/10sec 1/30sec 1/60sec? I know it comes down to job length etc but just after a rough idea. is it really worth filming/ taking pictures on the highest quality? Also I might be wrong but does YouTube lower the quality of your video when you upload it? So not nessasary to film in the highest quality? Also trying to think of ways to set up the gopro, so far got on a limb in the tree I.e anchor point and a tripod on the ground? Anyone else got any other ways to set up?
  15. Vests are fine IMO as long as everyone has the same colour and style or they are sign written. It doesn't detract from good quality tree work and i don't think people really take that much notice
  16. A lot is to do with your postcode, I was in Essex and it was a killer ££ wise ( not a nice part of Essex too haha )
  17. Hello mate, sounds like a brilliant offer but am just starting with a new company in auckland and will be leaving NZ in oct and hopefully going to Sweden next. Will ask around for you though as there are loads of keen travelling arborists in auckland
  18. Yep that's the one mate. They have so many uses they are awesome
  19. I have a daisy chain which one on the loops is big enough to get your foot In that would work well for an adjustable foot sling. Can also use it for loads of other things, if you buy one make sure it is a long one and wear your boots to the shop so you know your workboots will fit through the loop
  20. the SRT without the chest harness IMO will fall off your arse even with a 201 so he standard will be better
  21. Chest harness' are awesome for big saws and awesome all round really IMO. I climb with the chest harness on my sequoia for everything. I reckon over the next few years chest harness will become and more popular again going full cycle
  22. Im not sure if a spiderjack has a weight limit but I've practiced rescuing on one and it descends super fast. Agreeing with mark as in the case of a real rescue you will get him/her down regardless. breif exposure to say 180kg isn't the end of the world in my eyes.
