  1. Stoves like this are super efficient use little wood and tackle the problems in caravans of little thermal mass. They can be constructed in wooden boxes so they are removeable if need be. Somebasic info can be found here rocket stove mass heater Try googling ernie and erica wisner, They know more about fires and efficient space heating with rocket stoves than you would ever guess
  2. It's worth thinking about the thermal mass in the van and trying to increase it with something like black mountain thermal flex insulation. Or to be super efficient what about a rocket stove mass heater. Would be a good option if you could increase floor strength a little.
  3. How old is trailer? I'd be more interested in more ceiling insulation and better windows/secondary glazing. If you want to insulate floor there's many ways to tackle it. Do you want to lift old floor or insulate over top of it. Some really good multifoil type carpet underlays available now. A radical idea would be spray foam on underside, depending how your services are running. Fitting a burner is easy. You can get any special bits you need from windy smithy.
  4. What does it cost roughly for a crane like that + fitting? Thanks
  5. If that partner had 3 seats, 4wd and loads more power and clearance, it would be perfect.
  6. In a labdy the middle seat is useless, but in a transporter/expert its fine.
  7. Reckon the kids would love being dropped off at school in one, but maybe a bit ott for a bit of milling and firewood.
  8. Something been puzzling me, as I need at least 3 seats in my new wagon. If a vw transporter is allowed 3 seats and even a Peugeot expert which is quite small. Then why can't things like single cab 4x4 pickups have 3 seats unless you import the Toyota? Any ideas. Thanks James
  9. Looks good, shame to rip it out really. Would need a massive plot to put it back.
  10. So I'm Gunna buy a dmax soon. Is it correct that in order to pull a 3500kg trailer I will need to sit a class 2 test?
  11. Don't mention the firewood production as this is not considered forestry and will definately require planning. You can put a caravan on it with no agro and stay there 28 days a year. Planning law states that when the 28 days are up you have to move the caravan, not 20ft but too a new site, if you want to keep living in it.
  12. Thanks for that jerry. I'll give them a call on monday.
  13. Made a similar one from scaffolding a couple of years ago before we built out shed. Worked a treat
  14. Just the basic manual extra cab. Havent got a price on a chassis cab yet. Hopefully they will do one for me. It all depends how much they will nock off as to wether I will go for it.
  15. I didn't recieve a pm mate.
  16. I did consider it, but as I do a mix of construction, arb work and logs I wouldn't mind the extra space an ally body gives. Plus I reckon with mild abuse an ally body will look better for longer. Any idea how much a pro tipper costs?
  17. Hi Guys. Think im gunna buy a dmax extra chassis cab and put a tipper on it. Can anyone recommend a body builder in the milton keynes area, ive looked at city truck contracts, any one know of them. Also what should i be looking to pay for a basic ally tipper body with standard height drop sides? Many Thanks James
  18. I was considering a lc70 for a moment, but think ill stick to the dmax. Surely it would be a nightmare on parts costing you money on down time in the end.
  19. To me the definition of a butchers block doesn't mean type of wood at all, simply means it an endgrain board made up of smallish blocks. I maybe wrong but that's how I see it.
  20. I sell a lot of food boards, and wouldn't consider making out of spalted beech. I'm guessing they will be fine though. Both lookin good btw.
  21. How much do you need? Square edge or waney?
  22. Flyagaric I believe, but not sure either. Been known to munch a few in those hazy days of youth.
  23. Too far for me, but thanks for posting and not immidiately logging.
  24. Have you considered the elf and safety implications?
