  1. Yep. Crazy planning laws indeed. Sustainable small scale development should Always be allowed.
  2. His house would still be illegal until I believe 12 years after barn came down. You can't hide a building. Has to be as is. That's why earth ships work well. Hidden all the time.
  3. My mate did it in Cornwall. Earthship on his parents farm. Not visible till you pull in. Just looks like a hill /mound. Is possible on the right land
  4. No there is a proper term
  5. Someone please remind me. What's the term for when the media keep hinting at things such as lock downs etc, to get you used to the idea?
  6. It's all about lifestyle choices. I've owned houses. Could easily buy another if I wanted. I choose a different lifestyle. Preferring to spend time with my kids while they are young (well not that young now) and work towards bettering my own life. Not work towards paying a bank most of my wages. You are fortunate with your job that you earn well and have interesting schedule. I wouldn't enjoy your job though and it's important to me that I do something I enjoy. I understand your point though and would buy another house if the choices were full market rent for a terrace or buy my own.
  7. Sod that. That just makes the situation worse. Set yourself up to be a slave to a shit corrupt system. More to life.
  8. Know a couple of farmers with empty barns near me but it's Milton Keynes area
  9. Thought you had an extension. Why the rush to sell?
  10. Think you will struggle with that whichever chain you use. Let us know.
  11. On a wide cut half the issue is dragging saw dust from one side of the cut to the other. The hyper skip makes this much easier.I've tested out different chains on big bars and always go skip or hyper skip. Saying that I have now sold my larger chain saw Mills and unless the tree is under 2ft I just use the lucas, I cut an awful lot more dimensional timber than slabs though. I still have 3 051s and a 2ft alaskan. If im Milling on the 2ft I use full complinent but if im cross cutting and have the 30" bar buried in say a 4ft oak, I still prefer skip chain. Can't imagine full compliment being much fun on a 60" bar. What saw you using?
  12. Im amazed you guys don't buy a reel and make make your own up when they are that long. I run 190 drive link 27rx and you only get 7 from a reel. Way cheaper.
  13. I see! that is different to 12%on the minimum wage.
  14. Surely it's much more than 12%. Current minimum is £8.91 so it's over 50%?
  15. The ooni are good. Yeah you definitely need insulation. Found a schematic for the ooni so was going to copy that a bit.
  16. Don't over complicate it and make sure your base is super flat.I usually use cob because its free and eco. Made small ones without chimneys, big ones with. Make your door first and use it as part of your mould. Make sure wood is dry or it will shrink when you use it. I just use sand for a mould. Lay cob over it. Dog sand out. Easy. Enjoy the pizza. In going to try to make a wood fired stainless oven next similar to the ooni.
  17. I do enjoy making pizza ovens.
  18. What do you want for it?
  19. Who is tia and why do you want to please her?
  20. Sounds like it's going to be quite the pizza oven.
  21. Assumed this was spam so didn't respond. [emoji848]
  22. Pitch is fine for a sheet roof. I would pitch it in 5x2. Thec use 4 batons instead of purlins. As stated above 3x2 trusses are available but these are computer designed and factory built so completely different loading to a hand cut roof. 5x2 is fine at 1.9m run. If you want to use less timber use 4x2 the wrong way up as battens and keep the trusses 1.2m apart. This would give you a height of 5.5 to 6" above plate
  23. I would enjoy a thread on this subject.
  24. If only it wasn't central London I'd snap that up straight away.
  25. Yum. Mushroom for daysIt's amazing how quick they grow.
