if your going to do this there are several things you need to be aware of, 1:, the pto gearboxs that the pump fits on come in various sizes and ratios, 2:, there are 3 sizes of pumps, and different flow rates within each of these, generaly size 1 have low rates, siz2 bigger, and size 3 the largest, although sometimes the max output pressures drop with the highest volumes 3:, you must design your system so as never to deadhead the pump,(stall the flow, as this can burst the pump casings!!!) 4:. shop around as not all suppliers are equall! howford hydraulics can supply pto gearboxes, pumps, fittings and most of the bits, cheaper than flowfit!, parquip can supply hoses, adaptors, fittings, etc, cheapest supplier I've found, and extremely helpfull, ask to speak to Nick, Laminarflo have the cheapest pumps on the web, good quality ones at that. and finally, dont be scared to ask about your proposed design and choice of parts, theres plenty of us out here who have lots of hydraulic experience

the lidl grinder is a cracking bit of kit!, a little time spent setting it up and "tweaking" it and it'll churn out perfect chains all day, the only fault I've found is the led is crap, a good machine light(borowed from the lathe) cured this, and half an hour at the end of a day milling and all my chains are all identical again, makes a big difference in the quality of finish on the boards

this is why windblows rates a separate qualification, a lot of different factors can decide the required action to drop the hung up tree, this is where the experience starts to count. a lot of photos of this one, and the final solution and outcome, and defineatly a good learning experience

Tree Munky, I think you just "hit the nail right on the head", the FC are in a tizzy, cos the wont have enough manpower, they've put all there faith in harvesters and mechanical clearing, and surprise surprise, most of the plantations that are coming on stream cant be clearfelled mechanically, its to steep, or to wet, or to inaccesable , and the machinery cant get in. they know there going to have to use manpower, but dont want to admit it so they've started to try and get folk "trained" up, but there not going to get the experience....fu@k them, there plans are coming back to bite them on the ass

not used one with a chipper, but have run various bits of pto driven kit on the front of my mog instead of the back, just got to watch the lengths of the drive shafts, and be carefull about who's reverser box you use, there not all created the same!!!!!

it is nearly impossible to get a sharp edge on carbide, its designed for cutting all the "crap" stuff, a freshly sharpened normal chain, and a touch up whenever it needs it, nothing akward about oak
